Junkin' 760-D Pumpmaster

Yup. You read it right, y'all. Friend of a friend was out junkin', and found this one barrel down in a trash can. Heck of a way to go for a rifle from one of the longest-running series ever?! It's a 760-D Pumpmaster, variant 8, built April 1998. Plastic receiver, styrene stocks, sights pressed onto the shortened, but rifled, barrel. Barrel and pump tube badly rusted, but dang if it didn't shoot great!? I also noticed the rear sight elevation adjuster was missing. And the plastic mount pressed onto the breach end of the barrel has the sight flats on the barrel out-of-line. Anyway, here's video parts 1 & 4.
And what it looked like when I first unboxed it;

And the pump tube curing nicely this morning with a light buffing;

Well, mac1 had to refund pre-payments folks made for his manual-cocking 760 seal/rebuild kits. He's having problems with the 90 durometer seal supplier. So I searched Amazon and found this rebuild kit for $13.99. Comes with .PDF exploded diagram for the 760-B, etc. After finishing the 760v1 resto I'm currently working on, I'll be finishing this 760-D v8. Video will be coming in another week or so.

After finishing the chrono test series on Airgun Fan, I once again found myself looking at the little 760-D Pumpmaster. Still frustrated with myself for clear coating the stock before sanding the excess gloss black over wash off it first. So I unscrewed the butt stock and got out a bit of 800-grit emery paper. Then cleaned up the checkering with a bit of Scotchbrite green pad. Just sanding the high spots enough to let the medium brown plastic show through. This allowed a sharper contrast with the molded-in grain details by Crosman, now filled in gloss black. I then wiped it down good and recoated it with True oil. After sitting a day or so, here then, are the mo0re proper results of my over wash process;

Gotta do the forestock yet, but lightly on it. Here's a before shot for comparison;
