JSB vs H&N

I'm very partial to the JSB pellets ..Its just one guys opinion so take it as such . But most guns I've owned will shoot some version of the JSB pellets best .
I had two break barrels that preferred the H&N pellets . But almost everything else was JSB . To the point that's all I buy anymore . Give the express and 16 grains a try also . But in 22 the JSB pellets you already mentioned are my favorite .

I have noticed with the H&N Baracuda HUNTER Extremes. 19.9 they do not penetrate very far. it is like they stop right at the hide of the vermin which does not make for a clean kill. started using the JSB 18.39 and i have been getting 1 shot kills. the H&N shoots straight but just really pack the punch as they claim. so now i have around 2000 for target practice. my weapon of choice is the FX independence in .22

I just bought a tin of the H&N Field Target Trophy 14.66 but they are 5.54, so I guess I screwed-up. I really thought they were going to be 5.52 but I looked at my order and 5.54 is what I ordered. The length of the H&N is 6.58mm and length of JSB 15.89 is 6.57mm. The skirt of JSB is 5.6mm and H&N is 5.73mm. I did load one of the H&N and it seemed a little tighter than the JSB, but not much. I'm really new to air rifles , so I know their is a learning curve. I will test tomorrow, to see how these shoot If they aren't accurate I will use them to practice my hold. They were not costly 14.00 shipping included.
Thanks for all your help

Don't be too critical about how they feel as you put them in the gun . My old 25 cricket shot JSB heavies Mark1 pellets out of this world !! But when they chambered you could feel them being crushed a little .
How they perform downrange is all that matters . But if it's a break barrel rifle and the pellets are too big or small its hard to close barrel without damaging skirts . The guys here are extremely helpful but there is almost nothing that is written in stone with Airguns.
Learn what you can from the guys but always give your own experiences a little more weight than written words from a stranger . INCLUDING ME lol..
Some of the guns , pellets , and scopes I wouldn't buy again on a dare other guys swear by . But if you hear repeatedly that XYZ item is crap that's usually the case . Its a lot like any other sport , if you buy the better stuff it usually pays off .
And a pellet that is awful in the gun you have now , might be the PERFECT pellet for the next . Your gonna be like the rest of us and have a shelf full of pellets before long :)

JoeWayneRhea , you make a good point.. When I was shooting center benchrest, I ordered some bullets from a man in Arizona and all my b uddies made fun of me. That man was Walt Berger. A world champion benchrest shooter. They shot so good in my 6PPC, they couldn't compete with me. He sent me a thousand bullets and said I didn't have to send him money until I tried them. He said if you like them, pay me. If you don't like keep your money. They were 5.00 a box. They gun I was shooting was made by Walt Berger, but I didn't tell him that. It was destroyed in an F4 tornado in 2008. We almost died from that storm . They had to pull walls off of us. I still miss that rifle.

Finished testing and have picture of H&N and JSB targets at 30 and 50 yards. All are five shot groups. JSB 15.89 were winner by far at fifty yards. H&N 14.66 held their own at thirty, but were just barely edged out by JSB. So even though the .454 JSB 14.66 were a little tight in the action, they still shot decent at thirty yards. I did notice when I was shooting at fifty if I held the butt to tight, they went low and if I held to loose, they went high. The JSB group at fifty, I held snug, but not tight to the shoulder.
The fifty yard group with JSB 15.89 measured .400, for 5 shots. ( I forgot to write it on the target) 4 shots went into .259. To me, that is fantastic, for any springer to shoot like that, at 50 yards. The yardage is measured, from the front of my shooting bench, with a Leica Rangemaster 950. I am just a beginner at air gun shooting. I am giving all the credit to the TX200.

JoeWayneRhea I'll do that. Being retired and with my wife still working, I already bought three thousand pellets this month and the wife feels that I have plenty. Ha
I shot just rimfire for many years and my safe has about six thousand rounds in it now. She doesn't want that to happen with the pellets. She is a better shot than I am with a pistol. When we got our concealed carry license, she shot the best in the class, with her glock 9mm. She loves guns, but hates hoarding

"Precision Air Sports" is an ebay store that sells a large range of the commercially available pelletes in 25-round film canisters. Whenever I buy a new rifle, or change barrels or what have you, I usually go and get a range of domed pellets (and in the case of the H+N FTT and Barracudas, in all flavors of head sizes) for a lot less money than buying full tins.

Of course, then when I find the perfect pellet, it's a one or two week wait to get a shooting supply from the online stores...:-/

edit: sorry here's a link:

Bent thanks for the link to PAS on ebay. Wish I had saw this a few days ago. I just recently decides to try shooting my TX200 again after a long layoff and bought this assortment of pellets to try. Now waiting for a good day this winter to try them. Bill
