Iphone 6 scope cam feedback ?

Is anyone using their iPhone 6 as a scope cam set up. The 6 is capable of recording at 240 frames per second which is the equivalent of the Casio series Exilm cameras.

I am planning to get the Iscope cam set up for my cricket. I would like to see the pellets in flight so I can adjust my shooting better. Don't wanna use it to record kills just need to see the pellets in flight. This is my primary need.

Would like to know the views of people who are using their iPhone 6:

1. Can the pellets be seen in flight using the 240 frames per second feature in iPhone slow motion ? Since the Casio also captures at the sa,e frame rate, I am assuming that I will be able to see the pellets in flight.

2. Is the quality the same or any better than using the Casio cameras that most people use?

Basis the feedback I receive, I will decide whether to get the Casio camera or the Iscope mount and use my iPhone with it.

Thanks.

"Ben10"I don't think you will get great visibility of the pellet. I tried it with a seben and an iPhone adapter and it wasn't brill. You could pick the pellet up but only at the very end of the trajectory really.
Thanks Ben10. I did see a couple of videos and that's the exact thing which was visible. The pellet only appeared for a split sec towards the end of the trajectory. I thought that was because it was shot at 120 frames per second. But your experience confirms my doubts. Thanks for sharing.

I do wonder why this is so because both the Casio and the iPhone are capable of 240 frames.

"Ben10"Nice vids but that's why I was referring to with regards to the reticule not being in focus.

I noticed on teds FB page that he has an iPhone scope mount and his next vid will be using it so I wonder if/how he will get it to focus.
In one of his videos on extreme bench rest Ted mentioned that you have to point the camera down to the ground to get the reticle in focus. And then try aiming it at the target.

Switched to eagle vision mount and Casio ex zr1100 and picture quality is much better. Saw a Sony camera that could do 240 fps at 1080p and might upgrade to that in the future. Let me give you guys my experience, iPhone 6=can see the pellet 2/5 times, Casio camera lets you see pellet 4/5 times. This is same light conditions and I will upload some videos to show you all. Of course I was using eagle Vision for the Casio camera and Orion steady plex for the iPhone. I still recommend going with a dedicated video camera.

Thanks for the feedback Fuko. Very helpful. Now all I gotta figure out is if the scope cam set up will work on an MTC Viper Connect scope which has Zero eye relief.

IPhone 6 codecs do not translate well for high frame rate quality playback...there is a process of conversion you must use to get the 240 fps, with proper resolution, which is reduced with any camera in high frame rate mode. If you have trouble tracking pellets full flight, the biggest reason is the higher magnification and the need for parallax/focus adjustment. For instance, when I'm at 24x and focused on target with the scope, everything 3/4 of the way to target is fuzzy, inclusive of the pellet. The last 1/4 of the travel is picked up much clearer. The fix...shoot with less magnification.

"Ben10"The other thing to think bout is how fine the reticule is on the connect scope... Ted had a hard enough time trying to get his camera to focus on the MTC mamba scope which has a slightly thicker reticule than the connect.
Yes Ben. You are right. The reticle on the Connect is very thin. I like it that way because it makes for finer shooting. But didnt think that it would impact the quality of image

Guess I'll have to write to MTC and eagle vision for a confirmation on compatibility and quality.

Interesting, thanks for the advice I will give it a try
