I ran across this article

I am happy in the USA we dumped the British in our revolution Canada who stayed with them is almost as bad for gun ownership. I’m just happy that my Fathers family left Wales in the 1850s for the US. I would hate to live in a country were only the politically connected and the criminals have guns. The anti gun people in the US lie all the time about people being killed by guns. One statistic they never mention is that the largest percentage of people killed with guns in the US are suicide and those death would happen anyway if Guns were banned. I had read in England hanging is popular I can’t understand why they still sell rope there. For those of you that are not US residents the reason for our 2nd admendment is not for protection from criminals it’s so we could have protection from a government that tries to take our rights away.

The State of New Hampshire is an excellent example of the implementation of the 2nd Amendment and personal safety.

1. No licensing/permit is required for firearms ownership
2. Open Carry is legal
3. No licensing/permit is required to carry a Loaded Firearm Concealed

The State of New Hampshire has the lowest gun violence rate in the United States, in fact, it is one of the safest places to live (regarding homicide) on the planet. You are more likely to be a victim of homicide in Canada than you are in the State of New Hampshire. How does New Hampshire do it? LONG prison sentences for criminal offenses. New Hampshire is not the place to commit a crime.

It just goes to show that any government is judged on the amount of new laws passed. How many times have we heard an incumbent candidate brag that they initiated "X" number of new laws, all in the interest of "safety".
Voters confuse "safety" with "freedom". Freedom isn't safe, it's rough and bloody and wonderful, all at the same time.
I'd like to vote for a politician (from the Latin: "Poly" -> many, and "Ticks"- as in blood sucking disease carriers) that would brag about how many laws they had repealed, and illustrated how much more Liberty we now can celebrate.
We can't legislate Justice- we can only legislate. The more we double down on using laws to make society safer, the closer we get to a dangerous, padded cell existence. Yes, you can be safe in a locked padded cell, but that is not living. We are more than flesh and blood- we are creative, conscious and spirit filled containers, yearning to experience Life.
I want a safety bar on my roller coaster- but I still want that roller coaster ride.
Merry Christmas everyone- may your life be worth living!

Hello to All,

Scotland already has passed legislation that requires a license (permit) to own, buy, sell & shoot airguns, no matter what the muzzle energy.

This has been in place for almost a year, and they have a huge backlog of applications to get through.

This license requires application to me made to the Police, and in many ways is similar to the procedure that we have in the UK for Firearms (FAC) & Shotgun (SGC) certificates.

The initial grant of the certificate also costs almost the same - 72 GBP for five (5) years as the FAC & SGC- 79.50 GBP for five (5) years.

Renewals are less expensive at 49 GBP (FAC & SGC)

Restrictions are already in place in the UK WRT purchasing of new airguns, or new components/spares of airguns - these must be face to face, or done via a Registered Firearms Dealer (RFD) - this was made law with the VCR Act 2006 (Violent Crimes Reduction Act 2006).

In the UK, the vast majority of the population do not give a toss about shooting or shooters, thus these types of measures will always get public support.

Have fun & a good Sunday :)

Best regards

Russ
