    G’day All,

I wonder if any one has experience with the Beeman R 11/HW 98?  I am interested in a rifle, made 2002, advertised for sale here.  The reviews I have read are generally positive, except the few negative reviews are very strongly against this model.  Can anyone enlighten me about the rifle?  I have never seen one and the rifle for sale is in North Queensland, a long way away from me.

It’s basically the R9/Hw95 platform with an adjustable stock and heavy barrel. I have no personal experience with one, but all I’ve heard has been positive.

I have one. And it is the most accurate Springer I own. I think the barrel sleeve adds to the stability. Oh I own multiple nice rifles. HW 97 and tx200 included.

Thank you both for the information.  I gather that the R9 on which it’s based is very accurate and assume that the adjustable stock and heavier barrel on the R 11 make it easier to aim consistently and more stable in action, thus even more accurate.  It’s certainly a good looking rifle.  Now I have to figure out if I have room in my gun safes to fit one last rifle.

“… one last rifle.”  C’mon Jim, we all know that air gunning is an addiction.  If you load it on top of PBs then you’re just that much further down the slope of madness.  Get the gun, revel in the moment, and never apologize… it’s a sign of weakness.  (a nod to John Wayne in SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON)

ironlion269 I’m not mad!  I’m as sane as you are!

The main question [aside from space in the gun safe] is whether I am so insane as to try to pass of another new rifle as one I have had for a while to the domestic supervisor who, thankfully, is presently enjoying summer in northern Wisconsin with her family – I have two weeks before she returns.

I wonder if Air Rifle Acquisition Syndrome [ARAS] is in DSM V?   From what I read on air gun sites it’s catching!

Not locked up yet, but working on it,

    Jim.

I have a HW98. Very, very nice. Much better than an R9.

    G’day wahhoowad,

Thank you for your opinion.  It’s come at a good time as it so happens that an R-9/HW 95 has also come up for sale locally and I was researching that rifle given the two [HW 98 and HW 95] are of similar build in terms of firing mechanism.

The R11 is as good as it gets.  Mine is a 2003-04 vintage.  Don’t try to compare to an R9.  That heavy barrel and adjustable stock does something special.

    Hi Brazos,

I missed the HW 98 advertised locally.  While I was researching  the R 9 and R 11 a quicker and smarter shooter snapped it up!

I have consoled myself by buying one of several FWB 300S rifles listed for sale over here!  After watching the video of JoeWayneRhea indulging in a little prohibition-style shooting of beer cans with his FWB 300 I was finally convinced.
