Hunting iguanas

hi it's been a while but I have booked a flight from the uk to Puerto Rica on the 7 the of May 2018 . I will send off for the hunting licence for iguanas for 25 dollars, but it's just in case I need it. But while I was looking for things to do I noticed that if you intend to bring a gun into Puerto Rica you need permission from the chief of police . Can anyone tell me if I am going to be arrested if I don't get this permission.if anyone knows how to contact the chief of police by email can you let me know as I am only coming for 7 days. Thanks for any help. John

If you youtube hunting iguana in Puerto Rico you will find a guy named Jim who does tours. He can help with the logistics. From what I have read and watched on my computer it is safer and more productive to pay for a guided hunt. More pricey but not too much compared to getting your guns confiscated and arrested in a foreign country. Unless you know you will be on private property with the landowner. Good luck take pics and videos please.

Trip adviser search for hunting iguanas on PR gives you the info you need. I couldnt copy it for some reason. Sorry.

I think you have been given sound advice in the posts above. But just in case you still want to contact the PD in PR, you can call 787-793-1234 and ask for the legal or arms division. There they probably can provide an e-mail for you.

I took this photo a few days after hurricane María. They were too easy to spot, not fair. By May you will need a much better eye to see them, lol. Enjoy your visit!

By the way, there are five iguanas in that pic...

As you are from the UK I wondered if a gun might be a FAC airgun or such. If so ( DO check yourself with thew authorities ! ) make sure it's packaged/labeld/checked with the airline and have fun.
There are no restrictions ( I could be wrong I am old ) on shipping airguns to from Puerto Rico. It is the U.S. that way. All your major airgun dealers ship there.
If not an airgun, likely okay but I woyukldnt bother.

A guided Hunt sounds like a good vacation time.

"fr8rbum747"As a side note I just read that Florida is considering contracted hunting for an emerging Iguana problem developing in the Everglades. It seems that the Snake eradication program for released Boas has been a great success which has aided in opening up a similar program for the released Iguanas multiplying without an indigenous predator.

It would be wise to implement a similar initiative in Puerto Rico.
