I never tried standard classic shaped pellets. Beasts have much larger sectional density that makes them closer to subsonic .22. 

With Beasts I started at 800ft/sec and kept cranking speed untill accuracy started to degrade at about 1100ft/s. Sonic airflow does not like skirts for sure. 

Huben is very quiet at 800ft/sec. It gets much louder after 950ft/sec. At 1040ft/sec it is not backyard friendly for sure. After 1200 sonic crack makes it as loud as rimfire.

Gregor, as I mentioned in previous post, i machined blank same (a bit thicker for reasons explained) spec as original. Cause Huben was not able to supply barrel brackets. Heres how much was machined off:

All barrel manufacturers follow that. Except for air rifle barrels that have no standards...


My barrel has 4 groove Rachet rifling (google that)

 


That is fancy rifling is used in .22 match rifles for subsonic 30-50g lead projectiles. There are truck loads of cheap .22 barrels of very bad quality, as with everything else do your homework:) I think most of them will make barrel swap recipe for disaster..

Thank you for the info. I assume you made the same barrel thickness the whole length of the barrel. I wanted to know if in fact the 12,2 mm (or a little thicker) thick barrel is enough to shoot accurately (I left my barrel thicker at the end - 17 mm). I wanted to hear form other that tested this if the thickness contributes to accuracy. Again, I am not talking about the little differences between the thickness of your barrel and stock barrel but about having a bull barrel instead of original thickness.

But barrels cannot be sold to anyone, you need to be a gunsmith... Firearm legislation...

I was looking at that barrel for a long time, actually but I was afraid that it will have too big friction... (the land are 5,4 mm)... It would work for pellets (but pellets do not need such high twist)

Just got my Huben and Im so glad I didn't listen to all the negative press. I don't know if the new ones are different than the ones last year but this one is awesome! 19 shots through one ragged hole at 50 yards. 33 grain JSB @ 930 fps. They open up to a little over 2 inches at 100 yards. Couple of flyers out of 19. This thing is shooting as good as my 40# Daystate. It definitely doesn't like any light pellets but the eunjin 28 shot pretty good too. The gun is just how I got it from Topgun air guns. They did play with the tune before shipping.

Topgun Airguns is selling the Huben as a "2nd Generation" (their description). I bought one and checked my serial number with the manufacturer to get the details. The Huben response called the new ones "Updated versions" that were manufactured in November 2016 and have a "Lothar Walther barrel, 12 rifling, twist 16" ". They did not mention any other upgrades.
