House sparrows

We once had a variety of bird in the yard and now it seems all we have are the house sparrows. I saw them chase away a pair of blue jays trying to nest. They even eat the chicken food enough to notice. So i declared war on them. 20 in the last two weeks.

all my shots are 30 to 55 yards. I sit in the out building and pick them off through the garage doors using a regulated Hatsan bt65 qe .25.

Down to about 10 sparrows. Gonna get them all in hopes the native birds will return

"fpgt72"Blue Jays are a$$ h0le birds.
Yes they are, almost as bad as sparrows. But don't get caught shooting them.

Seth, I have good news for you. It works. My feeder zone is now filled with natives. I do need to keep the squirrels down, as they chase birds off too and will tear up your feeders to get the stuff they like out of them. I have one that had to be epoxied, or they would take it apart every week, dumping the whole payload of seed onto the ground.

But now that I've been drilling the English Sparrows and Euro Starlings, I'm getting a lot of Purple Juncos, Blue Jays (for better or worse), Northern Cardinals, Woodpeckers (Downy and Red-bellied), Nuthatches, House Finches, Mourning Doves...
