Has Anyone Received Their MRod Compressor

"Mrodair.com"Big tin,

im reading the size on the tank, not a website
So you posted the size as

" a large 118cu 45min SCBA"

Does it have "45min" or 118cu on it?
Can you post a pic of the tank?

I notice on the video your assistant says it's "118 cu in tank". A 118 cu in tank would be equal to just over 21cu ft.

Again conflicting information.

OK - figured out the mystery. Founds this pic of his tank on his website.

It is a 66CU FT bottle

Mrodair - that REE # is for the Hyrdostatic testers

I guess this points out the major issue I have - You post stuff and talk about stuff like you know it to be fact, but you really don't.

Changing breakers, fill rates, bottle sizes, 20 day lead times on shipments, etc, etc. I hate to see people being "mislead".

Big Tin,

You Are correct.

Upon review, this was unintentionally misquoted by us.

As we have stated before, we are not perfect.

Glad you noticed this.

It is not our intention to mislead in any way about fill times. 66 would be correct.

It will take a couple days, but we will have this corrected.

Our participation on the forums, is for this very purpose, to gain the insight of others.

Thank You

I suspect that since I started this thread, some of you have been wondering why I haven't filed a report on the Mrodair compressor yet.I've copied the full email thread below. Essentially this is what has happened. I placed my pre-order for the compressor on December 16th and subsequently received the email from Mrodair that the compressors were arriving and to pay the balance due which I promptly did.In early February Michael stated on this forum that the “last 19” compressors had been shipped." Assuming that my order must have been in the last batch I waited 7 days and then contacted Michael to ask for an update on my order.

As you can see from the email chain his immediate response was the usual Michael excuse; that it was taking a week for compressors to arrive, probably because the packages were so heavy. I pointed out in my response that it had been a week and that was why I was writing. No response, at which point I became a bit more demanding in my response. He answered that he had been doing research and had found that their ordering and shipping software had detected a difference between my billing and shipping addresses and had consequently simply ignored my order and failed to print out a mailing label. He apologized and stated that he had created a shipping label by hand, that my compressor was boxed and ready and would go out that day (February 12).I contacted Michael 7 days later and said that I still had not received the compressor and asked for a tracking number. He sent me a photo of a shipping label that had obviously been created that day. Needless to say I was quite irate and demanded an explanation. When I received no response I sent an email giving him 30 minutes before I took further action (posting on this forum and contacting the State Attorney General's Office being the first of those actions). I received a phone call from Buck 20 minutes later (they obviously realized that emails were leaving a documentary trail) who repeated the excuse about the software (he just caught himself from blaming me for creating the problem) and said the “truck would be there in 30 minutes” and he could ship the compressor or send me a refund check. He had no response when I asked him about the email of February 12 stating the compressor was being shipped that day. After some deliberation I told him to ship the compressor. The next morning I checked the tracking number and discovered that UPS had still not received the package and once again sent Michael an email asking for an explanation. No response. A repeat of the behavior of February 12th whereupon I canceled the order and asked for a full refund.

What conclusions do I draw from the experience. Let's assume that there is somewhere a software designer incompetent enough to write an ordering program that, upon detecting a discrepancy between shipping and billing address, does not send an error report or somehow flag the discrepancy but simply discards the order. Let's assume that someone is stupid enough to purchase such a software package. And let's assume that while I've worked with typewriters (you younger guys may have to look that up) and computers my entire professional career and can type 120 wpm and have published widely in professional and hobby journals, that I still somehow made an error when entering my personal information on the original order and follow-up balance payment. That still leaves the correspondence of February 12th where it is blatantly obvious that Michael lied. And that still leaves the phone call of February 19th where Buck repeated the same lie, stating that the compressor was ready to be shipped and “the truck would be there in 30 minutes.”

We've all noted Michael's eagerness to shoot from the hip and play lose with the facts. But this goes far beyond that; these were blatant, unequivocal lies. And a businessman who is willing to lie is, in my opinion, willing to do anything (a man's word is his bond). Consequently I would never, ever seek to purchase any product or service from Mrodair again (Which is unfortunate as I am quite curious about Snowpeak's P15 that has been leaked in a couple of places. I guess my only hope in this regard is that Snowpeak will realize that their North American presence is being threatened by Mrodair's behavior and will find another partner in the US.).I would also recommend to friends and colleagues to not deal with Mrodair. As I've noted previously, I am increasingly underwhelmed by the airgun industry in general. But Mrodair is another level deeper and does not, in my opinion, deserve to continue to execute its abuse on the airgun community. So my strong suggestion to everyone is to avoid any further business with Mrodair.

Here is the email exchange in full (minus a brief tangential exchange regarding the P12):

--------------------

Michael,

Since you have failed to respond once again (a pattern), and that once again you have failed to comply with your promise, I have changed my mind:

Please cancel my order for the compressor and refund my payment in full.

Confirm this cancellation by return email please.

Stephen

Michael,

In our phone conversation yesterday Buck stated that the UPS truck was arriving in 30 minutes and I opted to have the compressor shipped. However I checked the tracking number this morning and UPS indicates that the package has not been received by the carrier.

Please clarify.

Stephen

I received mine today. I filled a 90 cubic inch 4500 psi Ninja tank in roughly twelve minutes. I say roughly because I had to stop at 3000 psi after nine minutes because the o-ring in the inline dryer burst. I most likely didn't have it tightened properly, but it did come with a spare so we will see. One of the wires going to the power switch had come out of it's spade connector in transit that I fixed. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. There were a couple of hiccups, but no big deal. If you are like me you can't leave things as they are. A couple of things I am going to do is wire a GFI outlet for the water pump in the sheet metal. I am also planning to swap out the brass female Foster fitting with an SS one that fits my fittings better.

"ether"I received mine today. Here is my review minus the unboxing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZsvits9bEY

9 minutes (5:17 to 5:26) to 3K is not too bad. Figuring its 10.7CuFT of air in there the fill rate is 1.19CFM. So better then the advertising video (13ci bottle in 1min 40sec=.96cfm) and just about half of what the Sheldon is doing.

From video that sounds Loud. It actually sounds much louder then my little shop compressor.
Just wondering what your comment in beginning was about oil. Looks like oil was leaking from somewhere? (See a oil soaked rag in pic)

I used a decibel meter app on my phone to show it running at about 80 dcb. It is louder than my small shop compressor when I got them in the same room. The room I tested it it in has basically no sound barriers. It's just a 600 square foot barber shop. It is loud no matter how you dice it, but it doesn't warrant ear plugs as far as I am concerned in a confined space.

This compressor is made to fill PCP guns, and I imagine it would do that awesomely. The separator is too small for anything else, and still you might want one of the branded inline separators. When we start talking about filling scuba tanks that's where the fun for me begins because I love tinkering with things. I'm pondering a pre-moisture separator for the intake like I saw in this video.

This compressor is so modible it's not funny.

The true tests will be in the longevity. I have high hopes for this product.

Ether I also find the separator too small for a tank. Even when I empty it every two minutes I end up with moisture in the tank and I live in Utah where the air is relatively dry. Users in the Southeast must be looking for a solution. I don't dare use it to fill my tank. If you find a pre-moisture separator for the intake at a reasonable price please let us know or at least PM me.
Thank you. Looknup

I received my airmax compressor today. Pretty quick shipping, but no indication that the order had been processed or had shipped. It just showed up.. Like others have mentioned there was oil all over the place. The box was totally soaked with oil. Also a number of wires had been pulled free. Some of them i'm not sure where they go. I have sent an e-mail in with pics and am waiting for a reply. My gun should be here tomorrow so hopefully i get a quick response..

Sure. I bought five pounds of silica gel to play around with, but I have been pretty busy with other things lately. Here in SC you can bank on 80% humidity every day in the summer. I saw some videos of how someones' shops deal with moisture without a "separator". They use a simple condenser. The video I am thinking about had long pipe coming out of the output vertically. It was joined at the top with two 90 elbows to a smaller pipe going down. There were drain valves on the bottom of both pipes. This of course negates the portability of course, but they were running HPLV spray guns off the setup with no "separators".

I think the best option would be for someone who knows refrigeration, and hydraulic tubing to come out with a stand alone condenser that will work with all of these small compressors. If that could be done safely, reliably, and affordable I would be interested.
