Got 60FPE out of my Royale!

Thanks for posting your experiences with increasing the power on your FX Royale. I'm not a FX guy, but my friend has a .25 cal Wildcat and I know he would be interested to increase the power of the gun. I just sent my RAW HM1000x back to Martin to convert it from a 50 fpe .25 cal to a 60+ fpe .25 cal (and a .30 cal barrel setup at the same time). Your experiences reflect the sentiment that Martin shared with me via email: there's a bit of internal work that needs to be done to make the conversion happen (hammer spring, transfer port, etc).

I'd be interested to hear back on how your accuracy is at the higher power levels once you've had some time to test the 34 grain heavies at ~900 fps. Please do report back (just curious).

Finally made it out to the range, outdoor range 36F and rainy but had some great groups none the less. This is the hottest I've shot the heavies at the 100m (110 yard) about a half turn from max HST so it should be in the 870-890 range.

A four shot group at around an inch.

And my best ever 5 shots at .644 inches at 110 yards

"Snowbird"What fittings did you use to see the regulator pressure on you royale 500? I just order a wika 315 to replace the fx gauge, the lens is always falling off
I used this fitting from Best Fittings then to a foster fitting to connect to a gauge from an old scuba yoke. Probably cost a total of 30$, just take the action out of the stock then bottle off the action. The fitting where the stock bolts to the action will unthread with a 10mm put the best fitting adapter in that hole and assemble the reg tester. Close the bleeder bolt and connect the air bottle. It'll then show the reg pressure, you can also bleed it from the gauge tee to see it bounce back up to reg pressure.

When you're done make sure you snug up the fitting that holds the stock on relatively tight, add the air pressure then attach the stock. If you don't snug it up enough before air pressure it might back off the next time you want to take the stock off. Ask me how I know haha.

Janky looking but it's solid, I believe Jking gave the tip about this adapter.

Those are great results! What barrel are you using?

GlemmChally,
Congratulations I am absolutely thrilled with your success story! I think possibly that the 34 grain MK II pellets will shoot most accurately for you at those higher velocities... At least they do for me out of my streamline and Wildcat 25 caliber rifles. I would be interested to see how your Royale does with the MK2 pellets at such high velocities to see if they are most accurate for you also

Hey Chuck thanks, this is with the MKII these last groups are. Yeah I don't think I'll mess with the TP size ATM Dill seems happy where it is for the time being. It's insane that this was done with no modifying of any parts just adjustment and good advice from here and Youtube.

In Spring when I was shooting the MK1's I guess I was shooting them in the 800FPS range so I wasn't blown away with their accuracy, if I get a hold of some I'll try them again.

Now I plan to crank up my 500 to 60 fps.
I need specific advice.
I hope I have to drill the stock bolt hole a bit bigger and may be increase it from 6mm to 8mm and accordingly increase the internal blockhole by 2mm.

add to hammer weight.

increase hole size of power adjuster.

may be a bit enlargement of TP.

My 500 right now shoots 950 fps using 25 grain at regulator setting of 160 bars.

What about reg setting for 60 for?

and what other modifications ?

please advise in detail.

"Glem.Chally"mubhaur - You've asked these questions before and they have been answered.
I took a video to show results of adjustments,
Does your wife know you're shooting that gun on the bed? HAHA
LOL, not married, no kids. The simple life, my Vietnamese neighbours have 3 kids (all boys) that call me Uncle that's close enough I taught them all how to ride a bike last summer. Really good kids, I just don't have the drive to get married and have kids. Just don't feel it.

Nice work GlennChally,
you are going to be amazed at how accurately the MK2 pellets shoot at that velocity... On the other hand you are going to discover that the 25.4 grain Kings shoot really bad at that high velocity... What this means is that you are now at the point where you have to choose which pellet you want to shoot out of this rifle. Because when it comes to power settings one size does not fit all pellets. I have tried 25 different kinds of 25 caliber pellets and the only pellets that shoot well out of my smooth twist barrels on my Wildcat and streamline are the jsb... and between the MK1, the Kings, and the MK2, the MK2 love to go fast whereas the other two do not. My Wildcat is currently set up for 55 foot pounds and my string line for 58 and 1/2 foot pounds and are both shooting the MK2 like lasers! I can hardly wait to see what kind of accuracy you'll get at 50 yards! Always the best, Chuck

Hey Chuck,

Yeah I'm very happy with how its shooting, above on this page you can see I got a .643" group at 110 yards. I shot a couple groups under an inch yesterday and tried some at 220yards as well. First time trying shooting that far so it's nothing amazing but like I say there I'll keep working on it. In the target section I made a thread there with pics (Reachin out). I've been shooting less and less 50m other than sighting in and hitting a silhouette I have. As for the Kings shooting that hot, I don't shoot them that hot. 1 minute to take the stock off and a half or full turn back on the HST and it'll bring them down to a happy speed, no big deal.

Next time I go, I'll shoot some groups at 50m and see how that goes.

I've tried H&N Hunter extreme and Barracudas with great results too, from my experience a Diabolo shaped H&N shoots comparable but the Barracuda's don't fit in my mini mag unfortunately.

Yes there are a couple other brands of pellets they shoot okay but nothing compared to the JS bees and my gun. Please forgive the typographical errors because my phone does not always recognize my words correctly. To get groups like that and 110 yards is absolutely thrilling! When I decided to crank my guns up to the higher velocities it was just an experiment to see what would happen, and when I saw the target at 75 and a hundred yards I was totally flabbergasted! As I'm sure you are too! Always the best, Chuck
