Good Day on the Back porch in Albuquerque with a Falcon Pistol!

Overcast day and even got a little rain. It was a wonderful day in the desert. Hopefully this milder weather will be heading towards Texas. Got to finally try out my Falcon pistol out to 40 yards. First time shooting at that range. I have spent the last several Saturdays with my new friend Van Jacobi putting this gun together with parts he had around the shop. Came across a lefty pistol grip and had to have it!
Pretty tough shooting through a pistol scope and with the gun at only 12 ft lbs., any wind moves the pellet. My hat is off to the boys in the UK! The gun shot Crossman and Polymags well but really loved the JSB 14.35 gr. finally got the last three groups of the day to line up. The gun is definitely shooting better than me!

PS- houses in the background are over 300 yards away. I also have a sand mound behind the target!

You are also doing GREAT with that Vulcan! Enjoy reading your posts.
Thanks for the confidence. I was getting a little fustrated with my groups until I pulled out the JSB's and things just came together. No question the pistol is a lot harder. A better shooter would have the groups even tighter. The gun shoots very well.
Thanks AJ

PS- Workmate looks crude and silly but works for me. I have had this thing for 15 years!

English pointer on the left, English setter on the right. Ran across this picture several days ago, one of my favorite pictures. Ran into quite a few quail that day; one of the last good hunts! Great dogs but are now gone. I shot a lot of pheasants over them! Had to go in my office several times between patients to have a cry when the pointer died. I have a stubborn short-hair now who is still a puppy at 8 years! Just took her for a run. She loves the desert here.

Edit: you might want to look at the Brocock which is very similar. Batman also had a Ranchero listed in the classified. (It seems like I am his marketing specialist)

Got tired of the winters in Chicago ( 5 AM to shovel the driveway really got old, man I really hated snow going down my coat!). Arizonia is way too hot but sure has a lot of air gunners there!. In New Mexico, even now, it is hot during the day but every evening we are in the high 70's to low 80's (and no skeeters). In the evenings, I try to shot for an hour (if the God of Wind allows it)! We have 4 seasons in New Mexico but nothing too severe. We considered settling in Memphis as my wife went to Ole Miss and has alot of friends there, but, we visited in August and almost died! Many people are looking to New Mexico to retire because of the mild seasons. Although I have not seen it personally, there is a lot of Collared doves near Las Cruses. Like to get down there to take a look!

NMshooter, your mention of your beloved Pointer brought back recent memories of myself. My beloved Boston Terrier Emily of 15 years went over the doggie rainbow this past May. She passed on a Wednesday and I went to work Thursday morning, but just couldn't make it a whole day. I hate for people to see me sobbing at my work station. Couldn't make it a whole day that Friday either. I completely understand when it comes to the love for a pup. We have our little chihuahua Jade who is top dog around here with Em gone.

(and no skeeters). Living in Louisiana I know what you mean about almost died and the skeeters!!!! I have a few more years here then Im seriously considering Colorado. For the mountains not the weed.

Congrats on the new place, I bet it is gorgeous! It sure is nice to have some elbow room especially when you want to stretch that shot out. It's great to be able to walk out back and shoot. You will really enjoy it! Some really can't handle not being "green" out here in New Mexico, but as you can see, I have my little patch of grass which takes me 20 minutes to cut. After cutting about 3 acres of grass growing up in Indiana, I don't really miss the green. LOL
Best of luck with the new place! You will have to show us your new shooting range.

I am in TX and would gladly live in NM right now. Enjoy the shorthair. I have had a couple. Very good dogs. They are very smart and hardheaded. They will keep you on your toes. As they get older they become great dogs. I have switched to English pointers. They just work with my personality. My last GP died this past November at 15 Years old. I miss her. I replaced her with an EP this past June. I have my hands full but not too bad. From a hunting standpoint my GPs were the best. Though they look a lot alike they are different dogs. Anyway enjoy the new pistol. Since we are both left handed I wish we were both on your back porch shooting your new pistol watching bird dogs run around.

We have baby scalies out back so I've had to keep an eye on her. She got one already. She goes nuts when they jump up on the wall. They are goofy looking birds and very entertaining to watch. Right before hunting season they disappear. I have not figured out where they go.
The one thing I like about air gunning is not having to wear ear protection so it's a "blast" to shoot with people. My friend, Van and I always loose track of time! Love to have you over, Maggie and your pup sure would have a great time.
