Giant Komodo Dragon Airgun Hunt - Video

"sonny"In my opinion hunting is when you kill something and eat it, like (deer hunters) If you don't eat it its just killing.
Or pest control, which is also a form of hunting. As @techna mentioned, these are Asian water monitors, they belong to the top-10 of most dangerous lizards in the world and are an immediate threat to humans. At least they try to kill them humanly with (what looks like well placed) head shots and there's even a backup shooter that immediately places a second shot in case the animal seems to have survived the first headshot. I've seen worse "hunting" videos!

Remember this, it's Indonesia we're talking about, where children live and play in these jungles. They are known to attack small children and even adults. One bite will kill a full grown adult in a matter of days (or even hours in the case of a small kid), and medical help is not as widely available over there as it is in the western world. Understandably a target for a hunt, or kill as you will. Oh, and not all meat is suitable for eating. ;)

Actually Its a water monitor not a dragon so odds are its not a threat to most people ,How ever my only point is are we killing as a form of pest control or entertaining our instincts to kill other animals just because we can, should we respect other animals (pests) or parade them and gloat with glee how many we can kill. Why do we find it so important to show all the close ups of the injuries we inflict on the(pests) we kill. Personally I just think theres a line between killing because we need to and killing because we like to.

That's what I said. an Asian water monitor. ;) I totally agree with you that killig for the thrill of it, or sharing video's with animals with their guts hanging out at close range, isn't my cup of tea either. But contrary to what you say, water monitors are known to kill humans, and in that respect I understand people who live in those areas killing them to protect themselves and their families. I've hunted in the past, to keep animal populations under control. Mostly deer and hogs, all animals ended up on someones dinner plate. But if I was a cattle farmer for instance, and doves and starlings would spread diseases, I would shoot them without a seconds thought to protect my animals. Only difference, I wouldn't record- and share it on the internet, but that's my personal view on the matter. I won't judge people who do either.

Anyways, if you don't like hunting videos, don't look at them. That's my advice. ;)

I believe there hunting them as a food source, if seen quite a few cooking videos posetd along whit the hunting vides too.

there is a population of monitors in florida, they are killing all kinds of native species. I enjoy hunting and pest control. I dont parade my kills around or even have anything mounted. Sometimes I dont eat pest, and sometimes pest control with a buddy can and does some times turn into a compatetion. What is wrong with taking a picture of the amount of pest you killed, its how I get paid sometimes. Sometimes you get a unbelieviable shot long distance and maybe its in one eye and out the other. With my group its prove it or shut up

Yup these are water monitor lizards, KOMODOS are only found on a few islands in Indonesia, specifically Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang and Padar. They can grow up to 10 foot in length and are much larger, they are protected under Indonesian Law and cannot be hunted, as they are too valuable because of the Tourism Dollars they bring in to the island of Komodo...

Biawak or water monitors are found throughout Indonesia and are a nuisance...
