Game Bird Hunting: Guinea Fowl & Egyptian Geese (Video)

Stellar Matt. Your shots are a testament to the quality trigger on your Daystate. Those shots can only be accomplished with the crispest of triggers, as not only hold but proper timing is imperative. Not many understand the challenges of using a scope cam but you and Ted, both, demonstrate the proficiency required, quite well. Hard to believe these were your first outings, with one. I'm finding that the video work is as much fun as the actual shooting and note that the scope cam is an awesome tool for analyzing and learning about each individual shot. This becomes very evident in your approach and production of these videos.

Questions:
-Has the decoying yet proven to be a viable method? We are not allowed to use air rifles for taking geese, but I have had great success with this method for archery tackle @ my location x.
-During my time in SA, I couldn't help but notice the copious quantity of guinea fowl...is there a season or limit for these birds?
-Did you happen to take any geese with a heart lung area shot? Curious if you feel a .25 cal would be effective with this POI.
-What video editing software are you using, if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks for sharing and a big atta boy to you and your camera man.

Hi Huntjunky

Firstly, thanks for the compliments! It definitely takes some patience to film and hunt at the same time. I often feel like chucking my camera equipment away and focusing on the shooting but alas, the videos need to be made:)

-The decoys are very effective, especially when dealing with gun-shy geese like these. Its the best way to bring them in close, but can be hit-and-miss depending on how the geese are feeling!
-There is a season and bag limit for guinea fowl, but it seems that very few people target them for some reason. Most wing shooters will rather spend their money on a goose or pigeon hunt than a guinea fowl hunt.
-I wouldn't take any heart & lung shots with a .25 or even .30 - Even a .22 rimfire struggles to put them down, they are very tough.
-I use Adobe Premiere to edit. Very expensive but worth it if you're editing full time.

Regards
Matt
