FX Impact pellet probe mods / Fix?---Video

3 mods here, that makes it feel really safe on my part when I shoot my impact and still can change the probe ---but it will take alittle longer removing 3 screw.

will test this setup for a while and change caliber and evaluate.

your suggestions are welcome if other solutions too make it safer/better.

My Impact .22 with 16" barrel 9" LDC 160+ shots at 32fpe

Thank you Ernest.
I think if the probe can be screw inside the block that would make it much more secure and simple.
But FX would have to send all of us a new designed block and probe ,,screw in probe.
Hope you understand what I mean.

That's a great idea,

but I think there will be a TP alignment when the probe is tighten down,

unless they can make sure the threads end at the same location for every probe so when tighten down the TP is alighted.

or use a set screw, than you will have this loose set screw issue again.

Maybe they have a CNC that will figure that out.

sound great ---- just screw on probe tight everything is aligned, sound to easy

I think they have many CNC there.
Sometimes ´´simple ´´ is the best and make sense.
Will see how FX will think of this new design.

Ernest, great idea! I like the double sided grub screw setup and a safety screw behind the probe. How about use M4 size grub screw on both side to avoid needing the use of different size hex key to remove grub screw when changing the probe? This could possible be a "safety upgrade" for the FX Impact and maybe the probe grub screw won't back out as often too.

Earnest what about drilling all the way threw and putting in a roll pin? Not my idea but seems like a very sturdy fix although it wouldn't allow caliber swaps. I like the threaded probe idea stated above also. I'm sure a guy could make a few green backs selling that upgrade

Nice fix. I got a used impact with three barres. The probe set screw is stripped. When I get it out, I'll use the larger screw, as you did. What do you call those teflon tipped set screws ? hat might be good to use ? Thank you for your expert videos. Fred

I bought a used impact, with a cross threaded probe block set screw. I extracted the m3 and replace it with an M4 as you suggested. Good fix. Thank you.
