FX Impact magazine issues... Please Help..

Got my Impact in .177 a week go. Took it out shooting over the weekend..
Turns out, i cant load more than 8 pellets in the (21 pellet) magazine without it jamming after the first shot.. Ive tried all possible pellets from JSB to H&N from the lightest to the heaviest and have consistently had the same issue every time. I also noticed the pellets with softer lead would get squished or marred, leading to crazy 2 inch groups at 30 yards.. Luckily had a couple magazines from my other FX rifle (16 shot), which worked flawlessly, shooting .22 pellet size groups at 30 yards with the JSB Beasts.. checked out some videos on youtube but this seems to be different.. some of the slots for the pellets in the magazine seem too small to hold the pellets....
Please Help/Advise..

Could you possibly post a good picture of the magazine? It would give the veteran impact owners here a way of diagnosing the possible problem when comparing to their own magazines.

If you can plainly see that certain feature's of the magazine are not symmetrical in appearance (you mention some slots appearing too small) you have likely found the problem already and will need to contact whomever you purchased the rifle from and ask them for a replacement. As long as you're willing to send the faulty mag back, you should have no problem prying a replacement out of them.

Let us know how it goes.

Sorry for the late reply. I have watched (enough) of your video and combined with the fact that you state that it function's similarly no matter what brand of pellets is used I will offer 2 possible fixes. First, I would plead with the original seller of the rifle and magazine to replace the magazine. Second choice would be to send your magazine to one of the respected patrons of this site and have them to repair/modify your magazine. Judging by the force needed to push a pellet through the magazine alone, regardless of the pellets not slipping all the way down, I have to say there must be some sort of defect. Something is not concentric regarding the magazine body to the pellet carrier wheel. Without proper measurments taken with the proper tools, it's anyone's guess which part is defective.
If you have no luck getting an exchange replacement for the magazine from the supplier and you don't have any fx savvy agn members in your locale(use the members map) I would be more than happy to repair the magazine free of charge (you pay shipping both ways)......assuming it is repairable by clearancing the body and carrier wheel. Shipping in a small 4×6 bubble mailer will be $2.75 via first class with tracking, each way if you are located in the u.s.
Feel free to message me anytime. Mike

Hey Mike,
Thank you so much for your generous offer. I did get in touch with FX and they suggested i try filing the inner plastic groves. It turned out to be more than just a simple fix. As you rightly stated, i'd need a bunch of precision tools to fix this issue myself. I updated FX on the status and now they're sending me a replacement magazine. Their service is great and i actually am very impressed considering i'm all the way in India.
Regards,
Phi..

This may be a systematic problem. I recently got a new 25 cal barrel and magazine from AOA and it would load the 25.39 grain pellets no problem, but would bind after the 8th or 9th pellet with the MKI and MKIIs. I opened the magazine and the pellet carousel was good but the inside of the outer case was not round. I relieved the inside of the case with a Dremel tool and now it will feed all three pellets fine.

Appropriate drill bit and sand paper on the carrousel easy fix, I have done this to many mags of different makes.

After this process I also take out as much spring tension as possible as pellets just drop in and rotate freely so the mag cycles with very little effort

There is a thread here on AGN regarding where to use the dremmel on the case of an Impact mag if and only if you suspect pellet clipping when loading.

In the Impact .177 I found that the exact heavy worked the best in an unmodified mag, the 8.44 the worst.

Each mag took me about 20 minuets, about a minute with each slot, I think I should have used 800 instead of 1000.

Dude don't try to file down the mag. This is a simple fix. My fx impact mag did the same thing. On the back of the mag is a tiny screw hole on the center. You have to play with it to get it just right. Try screwing in the small screw in the back of the mag just a 1/4 of a turn. Then screw the one in the front plastic down to tighten it. Load your pellets and try again till it fully cycle all pellets. Just got to play with it till you get it right. Hope this helps.

I looked at the first part of your video (videos do help), and my first thought was you do not have enough magazine spring. It's possible someone took it apart and did not put enough turns on it. Earnest Rowe has a video on how to "tune" a mag and how many "turns" the spring needs. I could be very off but I recall 4 or 5 turns seemed to work. Search for his video to see how to take them apart and put and extra turn or two on it.

Also... it was a bit fuzzy for me but the pellet skirts seemed a little deformed and maybe rubbing on the clear plastic plate. They should be loose enough, and drop into the cutouts, that if you rattle the mag they can move around and not cause a drag effect. Good Luck!
