FX Impact back from AoA - Repair reviews begin.

Sharroff, here's the latest shot string. This is after pretty much after full strip and rebuild of the rifle with new seals all around and in the regulator as well. Plus diy baffled shroud. About 100 or so shots since rebuild.

Reg Pressure: 130bar (Wika)
Power: 3
Valve: just past 2nd line

It takes a good while for the Impact regulator to settle (after rebuild or pressure adjustment) so put 200 or so shots through it. Yours seems to be improving in the 3 strings you've shared. However it is interesting that you are getting 1/4" groups with ES of 32-24. First shot low FPS issue should also go away once the regulator has settled. I've experienced the same.

Try not to shoot at Max or 5 power levels, especially 25.4gr. It suffers accuracy and larger ES at those powers.

Verve,

That shot string is alot closer to what I was looking to get. The 32 fps spread was at 20 yards, so no big deal on impact. The 24 was the 30 and the 19 was the 40. I didn't get out the calipers to measure the group so I'd use the "killzone" marked on the target and the dime for reference points.

Unfortunately my rifle and the other Impacts at AoA have a barrel to scope rail alignment issue that can't be fixed without FX no limit or other adjustable rings. In forty years I have never had to use adjustable rings to get a scope to work on one of my rifles and I'm not about to start now. My rifle is going back for a return.

There is something really really wrong at FX.

Issue is not with the design so much (except one that mods get touchy about), yes there are some areas they could improve. Issue is with the machining. To have the out-of-spec scope rail issue across a full batch can only be that. Majority of the things I've fixed on mine to get it right were machining and QC issues.

Sharroff, what's next on the purchase list?

I have a BWalton BT 65 in .25 on the way. The idea is to try taking a off the shelf less expense gun and sending it straight to a Hatsan expert for crown work, barrel work, trigger work, new regulator, custom tune, etc. Very much looking forward to seeing the results. If it comes out to shoot at 100 yards like Baxters' own gun does, I might have a nice wood stock made for it.

After that, I'm looking for a .30, most likely a custom RAW.

Michael ... you old chronograph killer ... I was wondering if you could tell me about that 1/8" female to male adapter that you are using on your hose to fill your Impact. Was wondering if you have had any trouble with the heat of the air melting the plastic on the female side of it. Could I just hook it into the hose from an Omega Super Charger and snap it right into my Impact. Any trouble with leaks? Will I need Teflon tape? How sensitive to tightening pressure is it and if I put it on too tight will I end up closing the hole so no air will go through. I read some customer reviews that said the plastic melted and closed up the hole and he was left with just a glob of glue at the base. Any info would be helpful ... I've been prying my fitting loose with a sharp knife trying to wedge it out. Thanks again and ................. shoot that chrony one more time.
