FX Impact .30 mag

Anytime !

Check out this link for 30 cal that may fit in the Impact mag.
Haven't tried any yet but the 79 grain one looks like it may fit.
Can't tell if it's a hollow point or not though.

I know what you mean about the pass through problem.
I made my own single load tray for the Polymags and they really get the job done !! No more pass throughs :)

rbolton6, thanks for the link :)! The 79 gr looks promising. I talked to the gal at Hunters Supply and she told me that she heard that they fit the Impact mag and will shoot through the Impact. However, although they are listed as air gun pellets, they are really bullets (flat on the bottom). Further, they are not hollow points; but they are flat on the top, and she told me that she heard they mushroom well. There are two issues I have: (1) Under 800 fps, this particular pellet/bullet tends to become unstable, so she told me. I'm getting only 837.3 fps with the JSB 50.15 gr. At 79 gr, I will be dangerously close to dropping below 800 fps.; and (2) Since the pellet/bullet is flat on the bottom, this exacerbates the situation in that the projectile may not catch enough uniform air to create stable flight.

Oh well, I think I'll just wait for the market demand to catch up to my personal demand. The rate at which air gun technology is progressing, I have an idea I won't have to wait long! I was not aware of the scarcity of hunting pellets for the .30 cal. when I made the jump from .25 cal. to .30 cal. I had no problem finding good hunting rounds for my old Daystate Pulsar .25. She loved the Baracuda Hunter Extremes and so did I! They mushroomed to 50% over their original diameter and dumped virtually all of their energy into the animal (virtually no pass-throughs!)

Thanks again for the info! I look forward each day to see what new & improved air gun products have hit the market :)

Thanks for checking up on them Marcella, probably saved me some money :)
I was going to buy a 100 and check them out.
Hopefully they'll start making the Rat Sniper Slug in 30 cal soon.
You're right, not much of a selection out there now but I'm sure it will grow as the 30 cal popularity is exploding.

Might want to try Mr. Hollowpoint, not sure if his have the flat bottoms or not.

Thanks for the link to Mr. Hollowpoint. Those 42s look nice. They're not listed as fitting the Impact, though. The Impact's mag is finicky. I'm seriously considering switching to the new Daystate Pulsar .30. I had a Pulsar .25, and loved it. The only reason I switched to the Impact .30 was for the extra power. I used to shoot Baracuda Hunter Extremes in my Pulsar .25, and she really liked 'em. Oh well, the quest continues...

So I just got a new Impact .30 Mk.2 and ran into this whole Poly mag issue as well and I think I may have arrived at a different solution. The Krayford & Lypt

Single shot tray and adapter MAY be easily modified for use with Poly Mags. I got one to play with and I *THINK* a bit of material can be removed to allow clearance of the pellet tail on the housing portion of the holder that will allow these "critter dispatchers" to cycle just fine. More to come! <insert maniacal laugh here>

I know this is dredging up the past, but after watching PJ Clark send a Squirrel to the Ethereal Dimension, I started a dialog with him to find out how he managed to chamber those monsters. Seems he just shoved these huge pellets in the breach with those giant sausage fingers of his. It got me thinking, Predator has done "Shorts" for other calibers, why not the .30? So I called them and they said "Due to "you all" (yes, Airgun Nation) buying everything they make, the mothership may not get to this until mid year 2021! Ugh. I'm guessing not enough folks are letting them know there is demand, or they can't meet the demand they have now (more likely) but maybe we can steer this somewhat from a consumer demand stand point? Reach out and contact them, let them know we have hungry FX Impacts, Crowns, Dreamlines, etc.. that NEED A PolyMag solution. They are super guys over there at Predator USA, I had the opportunity to meet them at SHOT show 2017, send them some love!

So the longer I stare at this problem, the more I am convinced of the following:

1. The .30 cal PolyMag was simply scaled up from the dimensions of the original .22 cal.

2. FX guns are limited in projectile OAL because of decisions on breech width that where made when a .30 cal PolyMag was not even a glimmer in someone's eye.

3. The "wasted" length, the plastic tip, eats up A LOT of real-estate in that already tight breech space that was originally designed for .177 .22 cal projectiles.

4. Maybe wanting a PolyMag for this application is fundamentally unwise? Perhaps a Hades or Hybrid slug is a more elegant solution? I wonder how those might be coming, anyone have any intel?

5. based on a thickness measurement of the FX magazine (~ .385" without the cover) and the OAL of the PolyMag .510" you would need to get back .125" to make these projectiles SQWEEK into the chamber. I'm pretty sure there is not that much material to remove, even on any of the single shot trays, the breech opening is just too short.

6. While a fun thought exercise, this would require quite a tear up, more than I am willing to do to my gun anyway. Perhaps the wise choice is a Superior liner, and some NSA slugs for situations that require a bit more performance. Perhaps it just took me A LOT longer to arrive at this decision vs. everyone else. Wouldn't surprise me if I'm honest...

7. While writing this I went to Utah Airguns and ordered a 700mm >30 cal superior liner and a box of NSA slugs to see what it will do. I do NOT have a power plenum on my gun, but the only slugs they had seemed pretty light, we'll see!
