For Coyote hunters

What are you all using to call in coyotes and are you having any success? the reason I ask is I used to use a FoxPro for many years but I sold it to a friend last uear due to my health and not being able to get out in the cold winter nights but now I have a stand I built and will be back out hunting them, my plan now is to try using a mouth call and see if they are any good, any suggestions on type or brand of call I should try? I kinda got spoiled with the FoxPro and really never tried calling like I do for Deer,Turkey,Ducks or Geese.

Imold i have a few mouth calls but find it too cold for my fingers. I cant tolerate the cold anymore and lose the dexterity in my fingers. I use an old electronic caller that is slowly dieing but works ok. I just got a motion decoy that stakes in the ground and spins with either a furry thing or a woodpecker looking fabric. Got it at 70 percent off at gander mountain due to the store going out of business. Cant wait to try it.
i have a question for you. How high is your stand? Is it a deer tree stand from a store or home built? What gun and pellet will you be using?

"Alan"I use a mouth call I bought on Amazon for all of $12. It does work, but so does my smartphone. Surprisingly, the volume is loud enough to do the job. And, there are lots of on-line sounds which work passably. Perhaps not as good as a Fox, but a lot less expensive!
I have a cheap $12 flextone rabid rabbit. It is a rabbit in distress call. I have brought in several foxes with it. Also I can assure you that the piglet in distress works good on the cell phone app. I tested it on my sow and she chased me around looking to kill me. I couldn't find the mute or off button so I hopped over the electric fence and she paused for a second then ran through it and continued the chase till I was able to shut it off.

That would have been an awesome video! I can picture it with some benny hill music playing in the background. Ha ha!

I have severe nerve damage(fused and plated neck)and a 24/7 pacemaker now so I don't deal with the cold at all now, I used to use my 22-250 from the ground when I could and dressed warm in Mad Dog gear, I could last a few hours in -10 to -20* weather at night, I had a remote fur ball and feather that I hooked up to my Foxpro with a 20ft cord so when I push the button to call the furball and feather would move at the same time. My son and I just finished my 1st ever Deer stand, I always bow hunted from a ladder stand or ground blind for the last 32 years so this is all new to me, my gun of choice will be my New HMx .357 regulated at 130ft/lbs and I'll keep my shots under 100 yards, I'll still have the 22-250 for the long shots being its zero'd in at 200 yards, my stand is 10ft 5" to the floor from ground and is a 8ft x 6ft platform. The stand is level the pic makes it look tilted hahaha.

"z-ski"I'm using a FoxPro, tried the baby cotton tail call without success. My buddy suggested a Primos fawn bleat call since that is what we suspect the coyotes are hunting now. Makes sense to me going to give it a try.
I have found two dead fawns that have been eaten about 130 yards south of my stand by the creek witch is my south property lime, they were dragged out into the open area I have about 40yards north of the creek and stripped clean, I have also caught 2 yotes on my stealth cams I have set up in that same area. I just bought this 12.7 acres this spring so I'm still figuring out the deer movement, have a couple fox on the north side of my property, found their den and they have a couple little ones so I kinda stay away and let them eat all the field mice they want. I'll see what my sport shop has for calls I did pick up my other calls there. Small town small sport shop with lots to offer.

I used to hunt coyotes on a dairy and beef farm that are both within a mile of me so it was nice, I could try to hunt them still but I know the cold will drive me out, they would call me when it was caving time and at night I would go out and sit, full moons or close to were always good times, if calling the old fashioned way doesn't work I'll get a foxpro and the electronic furball and feather again and go that route but until I cave in I'll try it with a few different mouth calls, I have a lot of tall grass and cat tails along my creek so it will be ideal for winter coyotes.

My wife said it was hilarious. Let me tell you it was extremely scary. Mind you I pet this pig every day but on that day I think she would have killed me. She is about 200 lbs. We have made up since then but I can still see some hostility in her eyes. I look at it now and laugh but whew I likened to crap myself.
