I ordered a DonnyFL Sumo and was first impressed at how fast Donny replies.  Then I was impressed at how well he communicates about shipping your order, then I was impressed with how fast he ships.  THEN, I was really actually somewhat flabbergasted by the quality of fit and craftsmanship that went into the manufacturing and design of this piece of hardware.  Not a tool mark, not a flaw in finish and threaded parts that simply glide onto each other like a well designed tool.

Now the real test does it work?  I tried to measure the dB levels of 3 different moderators (Huggett, Sumo, European no-name) on 3 different guns.  Unfortunately the technology of the cheaper sound meters don’t seem to have a sampling rate that is truly fast enough to measure the peak noise levels accurately.  I do have one pretty good sound detector, and that is my ears.  Simply put the Donny FL Sumo is so back yard quiet that my neighbors dogs that usually start barking as soon as I speak in the back yard, simply just ignore the guns when the Sumo is attached.  So being of the scientific mind I took the Sumo off and tried again.  The dog barking launched.  I could only laugh to myself as I screwed the Sumo back on and enjoyed the rest of my shooting session.

How does it look?  I have two guns that I can use this on.  I have a Vulcan and a FX Streamline.  I must say the Sumo is a little bigger in diameter than either barrel shroud.  The Huggett LDC is more in line with the existing shrouds and just looks more streamline, but I actually like the look of the Sumo on the Vulcan.   The Sumo really accents the lines and shape of the gun.  When it is on the Streamline, it really makes the gun look more like a sniper style of rifle.  The Sumo passes the “LOOKS” with flying colors!

Yea, I left out one small detail.  My Vulcan has a 1/2×20 adapter.  Sorry about that, I should have clarified.

Fungun, thanks for writing this review. I have been meaning to find the time to do the same. I recently purchased a Daystate Regal XL from Bakers Airguns and absolutely love the rifle! The one thing I didn’t expect was how loud it was in comparison to my other two rifles a Marauder and an FX Whisper. So I searched the forums for LDC recommendations and I found so many great things said about DonnyFL. So finally I decided to inquire about an LDC on his website. At this point my story mirrors yours, Donny responded instantly. After only a couple emails, Donny picked up the phone and called me and we discussed things in real time. Like everything you read about Donny on the forums and the videos you watch on YouTube, Donny is the consummate gentleman and businessman. He works a full time job, is a husband and a father and runs this business on the side for extra money for his family. There was no doubt in my mind at this point that I would be buying my LDC from Donny. I ordered my Sumo and two days later it’ arrived in my mailbox. The build quality is first rate and the effective silencing is awesome. At first I thought, this gun is still pretty loud. The truth the muzzle report now is so quiet, you can now hear the slingshot hammer as it hits the valve! Donny really makes a quality LDC and I am now a huge fan of his. Keep up the good work Donny, I’ll be back in the future when I need one for a .25 caliber!

    Thanks Rosco, appreciate the kudos.
Donny FL is without a doubt a model business person to deal with.  We are fortunate to have him in our industry.  Thanks Donny!

I just got my donnyfl sumo today. I have to say it came very quickly once ordered. I now have to wait till the end of the month till I am able to purchase the rifle it will go on. The build quality looks great on it, and I love how simple it is to disassemble and clean and maintenance. I will probably try some different materials for sound damping once I get my setup completed and tested.

Put a Sumo on my Daystate Huntsman Classic, unbelievable difference. The pellet impact is louder at 40 yds. Apparently Donny answers his emails in 5 mins or less  unless he’s asleep. Has every answer. He gave me a reference to a UK website for an adapter that ships from India.  Fl to CA. and Mumbai to Ca. both in 4 days.  With this kind of a business model Donny will be an early retiree.      Tom
