Dishonest gun people?

I have spoken on the phone with Anthony today. I told him what agencies have been alerted to his multiple crimes. That many people have come forward stating that they've been ripped off by the same guy. He and his accomplice LaMar Roberts name has been red flagged with the post office. I spoke with a USPS postal investigator today, And she is not playing around! She's talking serious offenses here, with serious consequences. So I told him all that today, caught him trying to sell my rifle using the alias of John Mahaney. And I told him that he has f**ked with the wrong white boy... That no one has every gotten away with stealing from me, "which is true", and that I have his hand caught in the cookie jar. So we talked, he admitted to stealing it and apologized. He's such a likable fella on the phone, He's good at manipulating people. really good at it, I have to give him credit there. He had me convinced that we were trading rifles.. And anyway, he's all apologetic.. Said he doesn't care about breaking the law, He felt bad for stealing my rifle and is going to return it to me in the mail when the post office opens on Tuesday. He said he wanted to do the right thing..... Well we'll see. I told him if he returns my rifle the way I sent it to him, that I would not press any charges. He says he will, and that he's sorry. He has til tuesday to send me a confirmation that he's sent my rifle back, or the law will come down on him like hell fire. The usps investigators are worse than the Alphabet org who has also been contacted. They were talking like this was a home run. With my testemony, research I've done on this guy, and I made a neat and organized portfolio of the whole thing. They spoke like they were certain that they'd get a conviction. He's a deer caught in headlights right now, It will be fun to see what move he makes next. I'm still watching him.

Bump. I spoke to him on the phone. He admitted to stealing my rifle. I know I can't trust the guy, but he said he would return my rifle to me on Tuesday when the post office opens again. He's in a world of trouble with the usps investigators and the Alphabet org. As of now, they are waiting for him to try to do anything with the rifle. I'll update with them on Tuesday that he has agreed to return my rifle. and if he doesn't, it's back to business.

@Robo if it helps I have pictures of the rifle he sent me from a phone number that was used by him when he had yet a 4th forum handle which was Antj. Unreal what a piece of work this guy is. Best part is that if the Prosecuting entities decide to burn him it doesn't matter who presses charges or not he is done. Regardless I wouldn't update anyone let them put him where he deserves to be.

No kidding its only a matter of time. I mean your talking about 2K here, sometimes more that is a large chunk of change. I personally think one reason for the lack of retaliatory incidences is that a large percentage of the airgun demographic are of a "wiser" period in life where they make the more intelligent decision and just let it go to avoid possible jail and/or injury and of course are less able to exact revenge. One area where predators lurk regardless of the common interest all the time. I hate to say it but I think 2K is past my threshold of wise decision making especially given the fact that the hobby is so expensive it was painful to have to spend that much cash once to have someone use trust to cheat you out of it and part with it for a second time....It is also possible that given the sight unseen nature of an internet sale it proves too difficult to actually find the person even if you try. I think that gunbroker.com has a great policy where if you want to become a Certified User you need to send in a copy of your drivers license and verify a bank account, as well as register a debit or credit card to render payment should you win an auction. Most financial institution linking transactions require the user to either get a couple of deposits or login with their mobile banking username and password. That way you really know who someone is as it would be unfeasible to fake all that stuff just for the privilege of selling used stuff (some idiot will probably still do it). I am totally willing to accept whatever loss of privacy I suffer there for the benefit of knowing for sure who Im dealing with.

Isn't this like grand larceny or something? I remember reading something about the USPS will go after people for fraud and they don't take things lightly. I think it was something about mail fraud when using a money order or something. If you talked to this asshat over the phone, perhaps he's afraid of federal investigation, although if he's been doing this for years, he knows his was around the situation. A quick Google search for this Jarvis character and thief or fraud brings up various airgun forums. If this is the same guy on multiple forums using different aliases, I hope one day we find out he lives in my city. Cops and other law enforcement can only do so much. A community of individuals can do far more if guy can be tracked down. Like I mentioned on another forum, I've helped get money back in a situation like this as the perpetrator lived in my city and I ended up confronting him.

I hope you all get your money/items back, and did we determine whether or not this is Zebra? Hope not. Anyway, Robodabo, the guy stole from you and you've contacted him and he "sounds apologetic"? Give me a break, bro. Criminals NEVER feel sympathy. Don't be played. Stay on this and follow up with the USPS as this constitutes mail fraud.

I don't know about that. I'm having issues with Gary Cane as we speak. It looks like petty crap with his "front office" may cost me a deposit. I paid their demanded "non-refundable" deposit and heard nothing back for a week. Three Emails letter I get a message from the owner whining about how his front office is under staffed and how he is offended by my concern for my money. I try to repair the situation and he decides he wants out of the deal anyway. He offers my deposit back and then drops off the face of the earth. I guess we will know by the middle of next week what sort of company I was dealing with and until then I'll hold my peace. However; beware of the company that demands a non-refundable deposit BEFORE starting work. Frankly dealing with his company is beginning to feel rather more like a game than a business proposition. Too bad really, he seems to do nice work.
Gary is indeed very slow and very £££ but I've always found him to be OK, that said I get all my work done by Warren Edwards these day.

Without getting into details....

I was a prosecution witness in a case brought by the USPO for mail fraud in 1993. From that experience, I can say, without any reservation, the Postal Inspectors don't mess around. If this guy's case goes to trial, he WILL spend a few months (at least) in federal prison. I can't speak for him, but I'd never want to be in a fed prison, even to visit!

Yes his front office is poor about handling communications AFTER you make your deposit. I can't speak to his being slow, but he is darned thin skinned. The important thing though is that I'm happy to report that he is also honest. He got his panties in a bunch after I took issue with his responsiveness and a petty quarrel ensued. He returned my deposit so I gues I'll have to have a look at that Mr. Edwards then. I don't suppose you have contact information? If so please PM to me.
