controversial but you can't argue with results

I just recognise and appreciate shooting skills whether it's Rick at Shooter1721 doing 150 yards free hand shots and hitting a golf ball, the UK guys Si Pettway doing sub half inch 50 yards groups with a sub 12 FPE springer and PCP, or Dave Ratz doing headshots on squirrels, rabbits and birds freehand at 40-50 yards with sub 12 FPE springers and PCPs.

To me its not controversial and if the person doing the shooting knows what they are doing then the results are a dead and recovered animal. Where it becomes a problem is when there is a video put out to the public. There are allot of people who shouldnt be out trying to shoot animals with a 300 win mag because they dont know how to make a proper shot. When a video like this is viewed you will get people who have no business trying to kill a deer with an air gun going out and trying to take this same type of shot. Of course we cant stop that from happening and even if those type of hunters dont see a video like this they will still be out there making bad shots with whatever tool they decide to use. This video kinda kills the theory that it takes a .25 running at 50 fpe to kill tree squirrels lol.

150 yards offhand, it is just a matter of patience and video editing.
Field target shooters do the second one all the time.
But Mrdaveratz's head shots from standing offhand; those are amazing, if he is indeed taking the shots offhand, and if they are indeed 50 yards. When you zoom back with a zoom lens that has a wide angle setting, it makes things look further away.

But I believe him. He uses .22 a lot of the time, and there is a lengthy pause between the discharge of the airgun and the meat slap. Seems like almost a full second, sometimes. He really knows his trajectories. IIRC, 12 FPE with a 14 gr. .22 pellet is under 600 fps... pretty loopy!

I compliment him frequently on those shots on his channel. One time he thanked me and said that most people don't understand how much practice it takes on similar shots to be able to pull off those shots when it is go-time. His guns seem to be all tuned by himself. He makes some nice airguns that just seem to be cobbled together from a pile of parts in his junk room.

He even had a couple of ones where he used a 12 FPE springer and was knocking down crows one after another!

He is my airgunning idol.
