Caldwell chronograph

If your shopping for a chrony check out the Air Chrony. Small footprint, attaches to a tripod and works in almost all lighting conditions. They sell a kit for plugging the info into a computer, not sure about a phone or tablet. All self contained no lights or wires, it runs off 3 aaa batteries.

Altaros company has been making high quality regulators and airgun equipment for years. I shot my MK2 chrony and bought the MK3 this past summer. The MK3 is state of the art. For $200 you will not find another Chrony close in features and accuracy. You can buy direct or on ebay.

Just got the Caldwell today. Setup was a breeze: Unpackage, assemble, install 9V battery, plug in cable, install iPad app, shoot! Shooting indoors out an open french door with overhead lighting and ambient lighting from outdoors (lots of light reflecting off of snow), no issues. iPad app works great. Very happy with this purchase. First shot string after adjusting the top hat on my Talon SS and installing a flat neoprene washer behind the tophat to tune for quiet pesting @ 15-35yrds. Very happy with the results! 10¢ poor man's regulator!

I've had a Pro Chronograph for years, I used it only for archery. I bought the Caldwell (under unit model) about a month ago. I wanted both to check accuracy. I found them very close, within 5 FPS in readings but....and this is a big but.....! The Caldwell is very undependable in terms of consecutive readings. If I run 20 shots through the Caldwell I'll get at least 5 no reads. The Pro Chromo will read all 20. So frustrating I've considered returning the thing. I've tried to determine if it is user error. I've moved it around the front of the muzzle, up to 10' away as per instructions. I've shot through it closer and further from the sensors, etc. Nothing seems to matter.

I have to report I regret the purchase and I think I paid around $179.

"Argat"I have this chronograph and must be doing something wrong tried it outside and indoors with light kit. Always getting error 3 then continues to give reading on my iPad. Heck shot twice got 23 reading 21 errors. Anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
From Amazon's page:

My Chronograph is displaying ERR2/ERR3 errors after it has been turned on and in standby mode.Caldwell Shooting Supplies has identified an issue with electronic components on a small group of Ballistic Precision Chronographs that were shipped to our dealers and distributors in late 2014 and January of 2015. The defective chronograph inventory has been identified, isolated and repaired. If your Chronograph is displaying an Error2 and/or an Error 3 code in normal outdoor light conditions your Chronograph could be affected. Please contact Caldwell’s Customer Service Department directly for repair or replacement at [email protected] or 1-877-509-9160. Caldwell remains dedicated to supplying high quality accessories; we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Over the years, I've used several chronographs, in the beginning it was because I reload my own ammo. But, I also like to know the speeds of my various bows, crossbows and air rifles.

My newest acquisition is a Caldwell G2 chronograph - not so much for the wireless aspect, but for its lights that allow me to shoot in dim light - it really works great.

I want to thank you guys for the information on this chronograph. Ballistic you turned me on about errors, phone numbers and email but sadly couldn't' tell get a response back from them. But that being said I did further research. Found that the problem was related to sensors receiving too much light. So you gunna laugh,I had a old golf towel light brown draped it over shades and tried it that way, never had a error what so ever after that so I'm good now. Going try to make something that looks better got it working so thanks everyone.

Glad you got it working, kind of stinks that they haven't responded yet.
