Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph

I bought Caldwell Chronograph about a month ago. I bought the whole "kit" with the lights and the tripod. I am glad I had the lights because in my basement I have to use them. I have not tried it outside yet.

Besides having to go on YouTube and learn how to use the app, this unit has been great. Very few errors and the ability to look back (on the app) and see what you shot the last time.

I have done a little reading about Chronograph's and from what I understand, none of them are perfect. I like this one because of the app!

Geezer

After only using the competition electronics Pro Chrono for years ( and currently being w/out) and looking at today's prices ( when there was only the pro choro or the Oehler 3 screen I chose the por chror hands down for what I need.
But SO many new one's and lower prices have me looking at the caldwell and others ( partially due to a "screen shot" someone posted , dont have a smart phone but a very cool feature and it may email me? ).

Most, seem to like the cladwell. Then unionrdr add's his real world exp. Un, are you using a bench so angle & distance are always the same? Battery? Contacted caldwel?

Has anyone ever used their warranty? ( pro chror IS good on that)

Any more feed back on this unit?

TIA
John

Mostly good results over a couple years use. Cannot blame the chrony when I leave the switch on. Uh-oh, dead battery. The phone app is really helpful. I should collect and tabulate the results for future use. Phone connection makes that seamless. I do occasionally have off-on switch problems. Probably due to my barn environment storage, the contacts get dirty. I cycle the switch several times - presto! It even held up to some glacing pellets across the top of the screen apertures. I have since made a small wooden cover for the face. I don't think it would tolerate a direct hit! No warranty experience needed.

"unionrdr"I stopped using the battery pack and switched to the wall wort for the IR lights. The unit uses a 9v battery. I use a bench and bags when doing chrono tests. Have to contact Caldwell again? Plugging the lights into the wall helped reduce errors, but it still acts up. Seeming, until it, " warms up"?
I got the kit with IR lights and tripod like i think you did and am having way too many error2's and error3's as well. frustrating... Also, for $180, it would be nice if it came with the damn batteries...

"unionrdr"I just wish the thing would stop getting so many ERROR 2's and ERROR3's, even with the wall wort plugged in. And I'd like to know how/why it gets odd numbers like 13, 865 or the like? Sometimes strings of them? And I have the deluxe model with IR lights. Mine also uses a cable to plug in my Android phone.
