Aztec Emerald 5.5-25x50

Hey All

Wondering if anyone here has used or even handled the Aztec Emerald 5.5-25x50 scope? I read the reviews posted here earlier, (big thanks to JoeWayneRhea), but I’m wondering specifically about optical clarity. I am very picky over scope clarity and I wanted opinions from fellow forum members who have handled one. How does it compare to the Hawke 30SF or MTC Viper Pro?

I was thinking about ordering one but as they are quite new I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts on its optical qualities.

Thanks All!

I got one for Christmas, It is very clear in my opinion. I have never owned a hawk or mtc, but I have a Leopold XVII and a two Nikon scopes which are in the 200 dollar range and I think the Aztec is just as clear, if not clearer than any of the scopes that I own. The only gripe that I have with the scope is the weight, not that it is excessively heavy, its just a lot heavier than the 4x16x40 I took off of my impact. Also, never having a scope that had that great of magnification, I was impressed sighting it in because I could see the pellet hit the target through the scope at 50 yards. I can't say anything to the scope tracking because I am within 15 clicks of the scopes adjustment limit until my no limit rings come in.(back ordered)

I have one on my Wolverine b -hi-lite .177. This gun is my dairy gun and I have over 8ok shots threw it. So with that said your question was clarity, so I also shot many FT competitions with it on 12x because I shoot hunter class and that is max.I now have an air Ranger with a Hawke ED 10x50x60. The comparison between the two is almost exactly the same. The Hawke has a little edge but not much also when you get the AZ tec to top or max 25 it stays clearer than the hawk does at 50 x. I wish the would come out with bigger scopes but I will continue to use it. I love it and like Joe said it is a WINNER!!!!.

I hope this helps ,just so you know I have 3 ED's a 8x32x56 Sidwinder ,10x42 Hawke and the 5.5x25x50 Az Tec. I would buy it for 400 before any of the rest.

NL- I have the Aztec and overall Im happy with it. Its very clear through about 18-20x, above that it does start to get a bit milky. Not sure if this is normal; I would like to hear from other AE owners on this.
The reticle is great, VERY thin and on dark targets it can be tricky to locate clearly. The 2nd FP is the only real downfall. I use Strelok Pro and Im still working on the exact settings but, for over 35 yds I keep mine on 18x. Tracks nice, clear glass and a great reticle.

I received mine a few weeks ago and like it a lot, it sat in my mailbox in -20* weather for a few hours so the turrets were really stiff and the turret locking ability was nil thought I was going to need a pliers to move them but knew better, now with that said I let it warm up to room temp and the turrets loosened up and worked just fine after moving them and then I installed it on my HMx 357, 1st shot was 2” to the right and 1” low at 50 yards not bad for just being mounted, the turrets work nice with good clicks and the caps move up and down just fine to lock and unlock, the focus wheeI is still a bit stiff but that might be the grease and should smoth out in time, was really surprised on how clear the glass is and really like the reticle and the 18x true moa and 9x being 2 to 1moa, it also tracks very nicely and after 7 shots I had it in 1” at 50 yards, my opinion on this scope is that it’s worth the price the only thing that might make it nicer is one in a FFP.
For a SFP Scope that was designed by airgunners and built for airguners it’s spot on for the price, mine came with flip up caps and a rubber bikini lens cover plus a sunshade and a nice focus wheel, I like this scope so much I have another one being delivered here Friday, hope this one has the flip up lens caps,I’ve heard some are not getting them just the rubber bikini cover which is nice. Here is 9x at 50 yards..my 1st time trying to do a pic like this so it’s not the best but you get the idea.

I just ordered one from Arizona Arms, hopefully it will get here sometime next week. My only regret is I ordered it before finding out they just released a 3-18x50 version. I found the 3-18x50 version on the AOA site and emailed them asking to switch to the 3-18x50 version. On my .177 HW97 I will never need 25x magnification, so the lower magnification in the 3-18x50 version results in a smaller scope and it should have less distortion and brighter optics over the 5.5-25x50 version.

For shooters like me, I think the perfect version would be 3-9x50, maybe they will come out with more options this year.
