Another FFP Scope thread,

I’ve been wanting to try a FFP scope but have been hesitant in spending a lot of money on one, the 40 years or so I’ve only had SFP scopes from Nikon,Vortex,Redfield and a few more but last week I ran across this Hiram 4-14-44 FFP Mil with locking turrets,10 yards to infinity parallax and 1/10 Mil clicks for about 109.00 dollars and thought what the heck I can always return it but to my surprise this really isn’t all that bad for a cheap price scope, I haven’t been out to shoot yet with it due to the weather but I did mount it and have played around with it in the house.
I guess for someone wanting to see what the FFP scope is all about this Hiram isn’t a bad starting point and your not spending hundreds of dollars that could be spent on other airguns or accessories. Here are a couple picks.

I forgot to say but the clicks on the turrets are very pronounced and will not move and the parallax is also snug along with the x ring and eye focus and the glass is t bad either, again I was surprised at this scope for the cost..It will stay on my Wildcat for now, I took my Hawke off. It did come with 30mm scope rings for picatinny rail, dust caps and a sunshade...

modified for accessories.

I've had 2-3 of these. I recently picked up a Hammers brand. It's a very similar scope except it's a 4-16x50 and has some differently styled grippy areas on all the knobs. I don't know if it's being sold anymore.
These are a great way to experience the FFP scope style without the FFP scope price. I wore this on my Wildcat for a long time and may end up going back to it for "around the house" pest control. I've even used it in competition. The glass is good (not great), and the lines get pretty fat when zoomed in all the way. But the turrets click nicely, and the focus and zoom work smooth.
I know the one pictured above as the BSA Mil-Mil 4-14x44 which usually runs about $250 (IIRC). Regardless, the $109 price tag is outstanding for an FFP scope!

"Gunnertrones"To me it is no longer a question. Either FFP or fixed. All my SFP scopes are put in their boxes and stored in the garage for good. Too bad really, but that's how it is.

My problem is if I really like the FFP scope I have way too many long guns including Airguns and ARs to changes scopes around but I’d probably take and replace 7-10 with the FFP style scope and then sell off a few sfp scopes to offset cost and then I could change around the FFP scopes as needed with the remainin sfp scopes.

Well today I got to play around with the Hiram FFP scope and for the price I’m kinda impressed, the glass is clear, easy to shoulder and get on target, it’s kinda a overcast day with some sun and there is no issues with shadows or anything like that, for the average shooter it seems to be a good starter FFP scope, I did rotate the turrets left and right about two turns zero’d it in and did it again and then I shot it and re zero’d it,then went about 1 turn each way again with the turrets and back to zero, so far it seems to work fine..Just have to see how long it works.

I got my scope last week and I like it a lot. I am far from a scope snob so the biggest thing for me is that if it holds zero and if the sight picture is bright and clear. There must have been a lot of people buying them because I can't find anymore online. I bought one on ebay but the seller cancelled the order and said he was out of stock.
