Airgunners - Making friends...

I haven't been on the forums for a long time, but in that short period I have made lots of friends and acquaintances. One in particular is my buddy Jimmy Fussell, or as you know him as "Camp Fussell". We have developed a friendship based on the love of this sport, and it is a friendship that I am soo glad can into being.
Well this week was my 49th B_Day and I received a package at my door from Jimmy. When I opened it, I found the most beautiful Field Target that I have laid my eyes on. It's a giant Woodpecker that can be mounted both vertically and horizontally...here's a picture of it

I don't know about you guys, but I think this is just too pretty to shoot!.
You know the funny thing is that Jimmy and I have never met or talked on the phone....we just chat in the forums, and from that we have developed a strong friendship. I love Him like A Brother.
Just wanted to share a story that brings people closer together over our sport of airgunning.
I wonder if the pick up line,"Ive got a huge pecker" is now valid...lol

Man, my birthday is coming up, I might need to get in touch with Jimmy?! LOL, just teasing. I've noticed that the airgunning community is a pretty great group of people to know. I got in touch with the guy who makes big bore bullets in northern NM on a friday, and Saturday morning he called me up and invited me to see his shop and shoot his bullets with him and his wife. I spent an entire Sunday in his reloading and casting barn and at his shooing range. I even got to shoot his Jack Haley .257 out to 150 yards! Like I said, we are among some of the best, most sporting, fair people.

Happy B-day. Jimmy Fussel has been a great guy to all of us on this forum. He is always encouraging other!!!!

I have a similar story. I have been quite fortunate to be the last air tank sale from the original owner of Air Hog. Van Jacobi has taken me under his wing since day one I met him. We spent nearly three hours talking air guns when I picked up my tank. He spent the next day with my son and I, sighting in our rifle and giving us shooting tips. We had a "blast". I send him my groups almost every week. We have spent nearly every free Saturday messing with air guns and shooting since that day. He has been a wealth of knowledge and a very giving and kind person. Like both of you, we have become close friends. He has just moved to Florida but I suspect we will stay connected for life because of air guns.

Happy Birthday !
I am new to this forum and air guns. I have only a couple post ,but so many of you guys and answered and freely given some very kind and helpful advice. Also the folks at the local Field Target Club ( CASA) have been amazingly helpful. I simply cannot believe I owned this R-9 for so long without actually getting involved in the air gun community. I look forward to the experiences and friendships for hopefully what will be years to come.

Thanks again to you all,

Bob

Wow, I'm late to the party ;-)
Happy Birthday Michael.
I would like to make note that the Woody target was made by friend Paul AKA Strikefast. It was one of the first targets that he started making shortly after I introduced him to the addiction of airgunning. He is quite the artist.

I have met many great folks in this sport and on these forums. Hope to meet you in person one day Mike.

OK...gotta get off of here and get my old curmudgeon butt to work. It's after 6:00 am over here on the east cost ;-)

Happy Birthday Mike!

Your right Jimmy is a great guy! I am fortunate that we live so close to each other. We used to work in diff departments at the NCDOT until I retired. I don't know if he did me any favors getting me into the Dark Side as it has cost me thousands of dollars in guns. Not to mention hundreds of hours making the field targets. Lol

He gave me the bug bad, but I am happy he did. Jimmy is always humble and encouraging. We will be shooting in the AAFTA Nationals in 16 days together.

The air gun community is the only forum group I will follow and join in. Other forums I had followed seem to be rife with attitudes, egos, and just plain nasty folks. ( Ie. Fishing and hunting, my other passions)

Mike. you too have been a super guy with encouragement and advice.

I hope you enjoy the target. If you have any problems with it working I guarantee my work. And go ahead and shoot if you want. You can just send me the faceplate and I will repaint it for you. I make stencils for my targets just for that purpose!

Thought I needed to mention something else here! I recognise all the "handles" of the posters here congratulating you Mike.

I have either commented with or too several of them. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we could all get together in person for a meet and greet? Wow, imagine the conversations that would start. A sort of Airgun convention! Being an 8 month newbie to pcp, is there such a thing or just competitions to accomplish this.

I know the forums are the next best thing. Too bad we have to switch between AGT, Yellow, and AN ..it would be nice to have all tied in together. Just a thought
