Airgun reading magazines-biased or unbiased copy?

It is sad that magazines, print and online, have descended to become little more than mouth pieces for advertisers. While it is often the case that major manufacturers are likely to have products of greater variety and quantity, it is well known within the industry that the advertisers get more attention. Advertisers often pay directly for their own articles, that are not impartial but are in fact an actual advert, that even the magazine wouldn't have otherwise printed.

I can understand why reviewers would be very careful in describing products, it is a responsible role, but when faced with say a rifle that can't group 1/2 inch at 20 yards then surely they have to be blunt and say its poor or crap. Many scope tests are a joke, with them not being tested in any practical way. I occasionally flick through the magazines, but they rarely have meaningful content and so I don't buy them.
