A very good morning

Went out or a short hunt in the high desert country of Arizona. It gets pretty warm out here so I try and get back before it gets too hot. I like to hunt for small game, rabbits, squirrel etc. Where I usually go sometimes the rabbits are all over the area and other times you wonder where they went. As you can see by the photo I used a Vulcan 25 cal with a Mamba Lite scope that is a 3-12 power. It is a great combination for this country as it is short and easy to handle in the brush. The 25 cal hits very hard and has enough power to reach out to 75 yds+ very easy. The rabbits in this area flush out pretty far, usually around fifty yds. As you can see in the photo of the surrounding country it is very brushy. Most of the time all you see is a glimpse of a white ball(cottontail) bouncing through the brush. By the time you get the rifle to your shoulder they are out of sight. Occasionally you will get some that stop about thirty yards out and try to see what strange creature spooked them. That is what happened to this guy in the photo. Usually they are the young ones which are better eating. The great thing about hunting rabbits here in Arizona is that the season is open all year long.

Nice pictures and write up-it just doesn't seem to make sense, the rabbits in the Arizona desert are bigger than the little brush bunnies we have in California! One of little cottontails will weigh one or two pounds on a good day! Our season opened July 1st and they're around but skittish and hard to spot as they're staying tight in the heavy cover. I've come up dry quite a few times this season, got to hone my spotting skills!
Here's a pic from a few years back, you can see how small they are compared to my R9.
