Nothing special just a nice size gray squirrel taken at 25 yards, but here is why I wanted to post this...
I had to use a 4x32 centerpoint scope due to placing my good scope on a different rifle (not hating on it, just not my cup of tea) and after being spoiled with my somewhat decent UTG's this was an pretty unwelcome issue. I did manage to place a clean kill, but the first shot hit behind the vitals (yes I wasn't happy) but it did remind me how important it is to MAKE SURE you and your equipment are ready for the hunt. I will be honest and say I should of done more confirming before I took the rifle back out with that scope, luckily I was able to make a clean follow up perfect head shot quickly. With my normal set up I have no problem regularly shooting under 1" at 50 yards and under dime sized at any distance under that. I do also use Strelok Pro for double checking holds or turret adjustments when needed.
We don't always get the perfect shot and we all know that sucks, I never like to see anything suffer but I thought it would be nice to post as we usually only see the perfect shots and this may help remind some people to be more patient or thorough, or check that zero right before you go out. Either way it was good kill from my tree stand I just set up and I can't wait to return!
BOUNS: We have never seen one on our property (Southwestern PA) and I have only ever seen 1 in my life and that was in Ohio. I know they are common there and other places but it was a welcome treat to see on the farm! (we live right on the Ohio border) So he must have done a little foot traveling. No I did not and we will not be shooting any that we see if there is more than just him in hopes they somehow establish themselves successfully.
Set up:
Sentry in .177 caliber
Pellet: JSB 10.34g (averaging 805fps)
Scope: Blah (slaping a hawke on this)
Moderator: TKO (works extremely well on these rifles)
