Would like to change gauge on YH

My YH gauge is off by about 200 psi so when the compressor shows 4400 my tank gauge shows 4200. I haven’t gone any higher on YH gauge, but was thinking of replacing it with something better. Any ideas?

compressor works great and I change the oil after every 3-4 fills of my 74 cu ft bottle.

The gauge on my YH vibrated like crazy so I bought a glycerin filled one from AliExpress. The original either was not glycerin filled or leaked down. The new one wasn't very accurate. I then bought an Air Venturi from Pyramid Air and it worked great. I bought a glycerin filled one with M10x1 threads.

Gauges on my YH units have not been very accurate or durable either. None of mine has made it to the ten hour mark yet and all but one, of three I have purchased, have been several hundred psi off when new.

Changing the oil that often is a bit excessive. The manual says to change it every 50 hours. I put an hour gauge on mine and change it when it gets really dark or every 10 hours which ever comes first.

Thanks everybody!!!! Randy_68 thanks for the link just ordered it up. Biohazardman that is a great idea and will order one up...I know I change the oil too often, but what else am I going to do with that damn gallon of oil I bought?

The gauge of my YH is off a bit as well. My solution is to make a mental adjustment of the reading. For budget compressor of this kind, I just need it to work, doesn't have to be perfect.

If you have already ordered a new one then these tips are a bit late. 1) I think that you mean 200 PSI not 2000, that is only 5% off, not enough to warrant buying a new one IMO. 2) How do you know it's the gauge on the pump and not the tank that is wrong? Perhaps one is a little high and one is a little low. It would be prudent to check that rather than assuming the cheap one on the pump is wrong. 3) There is no guarantee that the new cheap one that you ordered will be any better and may be worse. 4) If the one on your pump is not liquid filled it is likely an auto stop model so you will lose that function (no big deal). If it is the compressor gauge that is off, which is likely, making a mental adjustment as advised above is what I would do. The gauge on mine is spot on but I only consider it a second opinion anyway. At least you will have a spare in case the original falls to bits.

Eaglebeak you are correct it is 200 not 2000....The gauge shows a little over 200 PSI when compressor is off.....There is no liquid in the gauge like my nice two bottles....

Only off by 200?? mine is off by about 900. I use the gauges on the tanks. I'm on my third replacement gauge on the compressor and the last one is junk. I'll eventually spring for a 4th gauge, but in the meantime. doesn't make much difference. still fills, and the tank gauges are close enough

I put a larger diameter glycerin filled gauge on mine with NPT threads and used a metric to NPT adapter to the cyclone block, my tank and compressor gauges match exactly, couldn't be happier. The bigger gauge also sits vertically so it is easier for my old eyes to read it.
