Wildcat Magazine modification

I don't know if anyone else shares my "gift" for taking a really important shot when I've no pellet in the chamber or mag!

Sometimes in all the excitement, I forget how many shots I've left, so made this 2 minute modification to my 8 shot magazine.

Simply polish one facet of the mag - that's it!

Now, when you load your full mag, place the polished bit so it's just emerging from the top of the action. This way, it feeds around as normal, but the next time it appears, you're empty! Time to reload. I've tried paint dots etc in the past, but the Wildcat actuator scrapes them off.


The above should show a pic, but it's my first attempt, so fingers crossed! I've only ever used self-hosting forums before, so this is all new ;-)

Yes, I have that gift. As well as second guessing myself on a quick follow up shot as a missed squirrel is getting away, " Damn, did I cock it or not? Will I double load now? Sh_t!" And my mags are all marked thanks to my WC's previous owner. He put a light shallow drill mark on his mags. %^/

My mags are all silver. So I scribed lines ( Vertically around the axis)
And filled with marker. Quick easy fix to an annoying problem.

so yeah I have no excuse for continuously double loading.

I have to say, this is an impressive forum, I can't read it for more than a few minutes and not learn something. But I might be going senile, clever solution and so simple.

Maybe its just me, but in my .25 wildcat I can feel when I'm cocking it if there's a pellet going into the chamber. I can tell when it gets empty and then I don't have to fiddle around with loading it in the correct position (lining up polished edge).

Ha! I do exactly the same polishing trick with my WC mags, though not quite so neatly.

But I put my mag in so the polished face is at 1-o-clock (looking from behind) and rotate it until it clicks - which happens when the mag is at 2-o-clock.

This means that when the polished face peeps out again, I know I have one shot left.
