Whats my best bet?

I'm new to pcp and I'm wanting to step it up some. Here is my predicament. Nearest dive shop is an hour away, and local fire dept wont fill tanks either so I am limited to a hand pump right? My brother has a marauder that he hand pumps and I really don't want to have to pump 3000psi for the amount of shots he is getting. I started with a disco just to see if I was even interested in pcp.... unfortunately I love em lol. I wouldn't call myself a paper puncher although I do shoot a lot just for practice and learning my guns. The gun would mostly be used for hunting and pesting. Right now I am really leaning towards the umarex gauntlet when it gets here. I know its a 3000 psi gun but it is also regulated which will get me a lot of shots before refilling which makes the extra pumping worth while to me. If I'm overlooking an obvious choice, I apologize but are there any other good regulated or small tank size guns that are mid range on price? Accuracy and shot count is king. Not super concerned about what kind of stock or noise levels.

CZ S200 Hunter is great little gun, 2600 psi fill, small tank makes it pump friendly and very efficient on air. Very accurate gun though not that powerful, mine does around 17 Ft. Lbs.( 745 fps with a 13.4 pellet) I get 30 shots out of mine per fill. Very light compared to a Marauder, probably very close to the weight of your Discovery.
Sells new for around $700.

Just because you have a regulator does not mean a " lot of shots" just that your shots will have a lessor fps extreme spread.

I too like the CZ200 idea, they were on close out ( red laminate) for $500.00 a while back.

I take rock chucks at 40 yards with a .177 at 18fpe. Depends on what you most want.

Naturally your Discovery could be modded to ........................... HOT valve and "pin" the valve and big power. Regulate it for less power but many shots. Install a darn near match grade Marauder Gen1 trigger and your discovery would be a whole new rifle to you, install a maximus barrel ( crosman parts are LOW cost) and shoot tiny groups.

But it does seem you "need" a new rifle.
How far away to the nearest airgunners that can let you shoot what they have?

Jake,
Just saw your intro and noticed TN, you are in luck!
TN is an airgun paradise.
DO get to the Good Ole Boy's and Invicta Field Target clubs.
THE nicest folks, some of the best tuners, shooters and manufacturers shoot there regularly and everyone is happy to share knowledge as well as let you shoot just about any airgun ever made ( and not just FT rigs, but every airgun made ). Even if you are 4 or so hours away, WELL worth the drive!

Deja- the fx guns look sweet but to pricey for me at the moment

Tsp- the shoebox is probably what i will end up doing. My brother is getting into this as well and we started talking about splitting costs on a compressor. He lives next door so it really wouldnt be an inconvenience for either of us to fill

Johnl57- ill have to look into those for sure

spysir- i understand that regulator doesnt necessarily mean more shots but it does let me use shots at bottom of my fill that im loosing on my disco at range because of shot drop and it makes my gun less wasteful doesnt it? That was my understanding of it at least and i apologize if im way off. I also really like my disco but it does leave a lot to desire. Ive looked into modding it and plan on doing so even if i get a new gun. What is the difference in the maximus barrel? And thanks for the heads up on field target clubs. Some one on one with people that know whats going on is what i really need. Most info i get is from skimming forums and youtube. Hard to decipher good info from the bad at times

"JohnL57"Field target competitions in my neighborhood often have tables of used gear available. I have bought and sold stuff there. The Gen 1 Marauder trigger is really nice and will fit your Discovery with a spacer.

Id love to just see what everyone is shooting, and what kind of mods can be done. Ive shot a mrod and liked the trigger. Is there any difference between gen 1 and gen 2?

The FX Impact .25 has a ridiculous shot count (100 regulated shots per fill) and is crazy accurate.

I would, however, highly recommend getting a compressor, large tank, and a pony bottle for the field. I used to own an FX Impact .30 and she was a royal bear filling with a hand pump (even a 4-stage FX pump). I own an Omega Air Charger (4,500 psi), an Omega 75 cu-ft 4,500 psi carbon fiber tank, and an Omega 12 cu-ft 4,500 psi carbon fiber tank. Although the Impact has field-swappable bottles, I would not recommend using that feature. I was plagued by frequent bottle leaks that required equally frequent o-ring replacement.

"Birdo"Gamo urban is good for hand pumped. Small tank with modest power is great for general use. I love mine.
I bought one from WallyWorld. Under $270. I found it to be of very poor quality & construction. I own another Gamo, springer, underlever, love it. But the Urban was way bad for me. Not to mention tha WM damaged it during shipping too. I wish there was a bit more consistency of airguns. They are expensive. Even $300 is a lot.
