Hi,
I used shoot my childhood 30# recurve bow for fun until my injured, worn out old shoulder just got to painful for me to enjoy the bow anymore. I am the old guy with some time on my hands and an addiction to pellet rifles. I saw a video by Matt Dubber shooting an FX air rifle with an arrow barrel, looked liked something I would enjoy.
Long story, the rig I was interested in: FX Dreamline Classic, .30 cal, synthetic stock with the arrow barrel and 10 arrows. Out of stock everywhere until I read on the forum about Ken Hicks of SPAW. In about a week I had the dreamline and arrow barrel set-up in my hands. In case the arrow barrel set up did not ring my bell, I had been wanting a .30 cal rifle anyway.
My first shot was comical, the arrow remained on the barrel and the insert with field point launched down range somewhere. I tried shot number two....same thing, not so funny now. Third time is the charm, not to be.... Contacted Mr. Hicks with my disapointing results with the arrows. He offered some advice and I contacted FXUSA. It took a day to make contact with them and in the meantime I knocked an insert out of another arrow.....problem revealed just a little adhesive had been applied to the insert, not enough to withstand the high pressure charge.
I re-glued the inserts in the seven arrows. Waited overnight and let the adhesive cure. My first try was fantastic, this set up made an old guy smile ear to ear. Problem was solved and all I can say is this is more fun that I have had in a long time.
I guess I got a bad batch of arrows, easy fix, but a little disapointing for new arrows to be defective. FX is making good on the arrows that I lost the inserts from.
I sighted in the rifle with the arrow barrel and it is very accurate, groups well and I will have to be carefull shooting more than one arrow into the same bulls eye, they group that tight you will damage your arrows. My target at 30 yards and you can see how well it shoots.
