Then and now - 50 years of my airgun hobby

I got my new Daystate Regal LX .22 yesterday. So far it's everything advertised.

The Daisy in the picture was my first airgun BB. My Dad got it for me around 1964-1966. It still shoots great! I learned a heck of a lot about gun handling from that rifleand sent countless Starlings to their maker.

Very nice Regal XL.

Is it the regulated model?

I own 2, .177 and .25 calibers. Mine were purchased before Daystate began installing the regulators.

The .177 is a tack driver with excellent shot-count (Harper slingshot valve). The .25 cal suffers from low shot-count and POI shifts due to air deficiency. I suspect that platform simply is inadequate for a .25 calibers air consumption.

Nice choice on the Regal and your story rings a bell. I think my first bb gun was a Daisy that looked like a lever action but the one I have fond memories of, roaming the woods for hours on end back in the early 70's looked like this:

Later I remember my Dad finally got me a Tasco scope, maybe 4x or something and boy was I unstoppable. Then after a 40+ year interlude:

Talk about evolution, lol. Enjoy that Regal

Thanks guys. I've never chrono'd the bb gun. I can tell you that with younger eyes I could see the bb nearly all the way to the target.

I'm guessing 400 to 600 fps. That's some choice plastic they used for a stock!

I've always owned the Daisy, but had a Sheriden 5mm pump gun and a Daystate PH-6 .22 which are long gone now.

Chohan, we've traveled similar paths! I recall the lever action bb guns. That's beautiful airgun you have now. Enjoy it!
