The Rats of Spring

Prepped for an evening waiting for the first roof rat to take the bait. They love pepperoni!

I just purchased a Hatsan Mdl 95, .22 cal just for this purpose. With open sights and at 6 yards. I’ve taken out about six. Two of those during daylight hours. But now I need to hunt them at night. I know this springer is hard on scopes. So no fancy night vision optics for me. I’m working on cheep (not to be confused with inexpensive) night vision set up. IR monocular, IR Illuminator and IR laser designator. My new accessory’s should start showing up tomorrow. I’m new to air gunning. But have been a kitchen gunsmith for about the last ten years. I’m here to learn .

Here is the first one take the morning after I got my Hatsan

Thanks guys. I’ve got a chicken pen out there. So that’s what these rats are so interested in. Unfortunately I shot AT most of the rats the first week I got the gun. In low light and no scope. That “buck fever” got to me. If I were a patient man and waited for this set up. I’d have a lot more confirmed kills. The spot I’m shooting over.
