Strelok distance and angle

is the distance entered in strelok the horizontal distance to a target or the actual distance?

for example, if I am shooting upward at a 75 degree angle at a target that is high up in a tree say 40 yards from the muzzle but only maybe 15 yards horizontally should I enter 15 yards and then the 75 degrees? Or 40 yards and 75 degrees.

Thanks!

MikeF, that was interesting! Never thought of it that way, but it seems reasonable.
Of course shooting right up means zero distance in Strelok, just holdover for the distance between the center barrel and center scope, but measuring the horizontal distance to a building or a tree, instead of the distance to the bird on top of it, and then have to make corrections for the angel seems much smarter.👍
