Read that not to store CO2 gun under pressure (assume you also pull the empty cartridge out of the gun as well) and always lube the tip of a full CO2 cartridge before inserting. What do you do? Is there anything else to do for prolonged storage and get the optimal longevity from a CO2 gun? I don't want my seals to dry out. Thanks for any replies.

I only have one CO2 pistol, and it uses standard cartridges. My personal habit it to put a new one in at the beginning of the shooting session and shoot it until the cartridge is done. Then I take the cartridge out and store the gun empty. I put a drop of pellgun oil on the tip of every cartridge I load. I don't know if that is the best strategy, but it's mine.

Some pistols and rifles you can leave charged. In my experience any gun that the tube charges is okay to leave the gun pressurized. Any gun that uses a single cartridge pin seal don't leave charged. Alway use a drop of oil when any of them are used. Also shoot them, I belive a gun sitting the seals go bad quicker.

When I load one or two 12mg cartridges I use most of that gas immediately. My AR2078A gives me about 60 shots per charge. Once power is down I leave it charged until the next time I shoot it. I put a drop of oil on each one before installing it. The exception is my Crosman 500. I never store that one with gas pressure.

Everytime I store my C02 airgun with a cartridge. The seal get compress to the point where it does not hold air.
