Shoebox Parts!!!!

Had to order all the important parts first , I have everything I need except for a handful of pieces that are readily available through McMaster anyway but thought I go ahead and order all the most essential parts that will continue to allow me to run this shoebox for along time, I’ve been using this model for the last 5 years without issue other than replacing a belt which is a normal wear and tear part that is also readily available if/when shoeboxcompressor.com finally calls it quits. The recent email with Carol K. who handles all the ordering says parts will continue to be available for awhile, I’m hoping they get back into the game but that’s asking a lot right now.

I will bet I was the very last guy who asked some questions before buying at 500 beans

‘when I went to order it was 1300 and so that stopped me in my tracks

sorry to hear they are shutting it down or,scaling back, finally made up my mind to buy

as our canuck buck is at 50% more to buy good old USA dollars so with spare parts, a compressor first state and air filter looking at almost 2000 Canadian dollars

to get up and running properly for years

canadian, made the decision to take the plunge and the pool was drained of water

too bad, USA made or Canadian made products rock, and we should buy USA or local whenever we can

not complaining just explaining, just bad timing on my part,

they answered my request for info and their reputation is almost stellar

looked for a reliable compressor set up for 3 months and always came back to shoebox

sad to see one of the most reliable makers decide to move on

wish we could do a group buy of say 2 or 3 dozen units to get the price back

what they need to know is that HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF GUYS AND GALS WERE

ABLE TO ENJOY THEIR HOBBY THANKS TO SHOEBOX products and the owners should be proud

even though I did not get one, I am proud to know their product line worked for so many

thanks again 🙏. Jeff from Canada 🇨🇦

I bought the f10 a little less than a year ago. I have the o-ring kits that came with it as well as the cylinder rebuild kits. Also just got some connecting rod bearings/ bushings from McMaster today. Other than that, what parts should I expect to wear out over the next couple hundred hours of running? I bought this with the expectation of years of service. Love the Shoebox and hope to use/rely on it for years to come?

Could you please list the parts and numbers you used to order from McMaster Carr?

thanks in advance

Sure. I ordered the connecting rod bearings from McMaster Carr. They are 2938T1, item 45 on the exploded parts diagram. I think I have an alignment issue with my Shoebox because the motor side bearing was like an oval after only 25 or so hours of running. The connecting rod walks off the shafts after only a few minutes of running. Not sure what the problem is....maybe a bent connecting rod. I emailed shoebox and Tom replied right away with some suggestions. Still working through the issues.

Yep, it is to bad they are calling it quits. The shoebox is a great little compressor. They brought it on themselves, they got greedy and overcharged for them because they were basically the only game in town at the time unless you were willing to spend $2000.+ on a commercial grade compressor. When I bought my F10 I paid over $1100. for it then the Chinese compressors created real choices for much less than he shoebox, Tom cut his price to a more reasonable level but it was to late. He crapped in his own front yard and then stepped in it.

Good analogy at the end there, made me laugh.

I feel lucky to own mine because like I said, it will just keep on giving you reliable HPA for years and years with just a little lube and a little love! Funny thing is these little buggers seem to work better under high pressure, mine starts out with a knocking sound that slowly dies down to a sewing machine sound as the pressure increases.

I own an F10 that I bought last year from them, and at the price they were going for was a steal. Made in USA, USA parts, simple design, and easy to rebuild. That being said, $500 was too cheap and Tom knew that. He didn't just sell to airgunners, he sold to paintballers and other hobbies that needed HPA. Trying to compete with the import branded HPA compressors is impossible. I personally don't think they turned their backs on us all airgunners, that's ridiculous. They are in business to make money and provide a great product to a lot of people. If people aren't buying your product, you aren't making money. In any case, it's a shame the price increase was over double, but maybe that's what it takes for him to make money. He provided a great service to a lot folks for many years, and if it wasn't for him there would a lot of folks who may not have been able to enjoy this sport. No matter the price, I hope he stays in business and is able to provide continuing service to those that have invested in the Shoebox.

So weird I was just sitting at home thinking the same thing, I couldn’t believe the price the F10 dropped to at the time. USA made with quick parts availability and I’ve personally had nothing but quick responses to every email or call with great customer service. Let’s be honest, did we really think they were going to compete with the Chinese market? There’s absolutely nothing else out there like this product btw it’s a complete unique design and it’s provided me many solid reliable HPA fills over the year’s which equalled a ton of great times.
