Self healing targets and big bores

Dumb question of the day...

I've read enough to know that the rubber "self healing" targets commonly found in stores now are a bad idea for small bore airguns, unless you like targets that shoot back. But what about big bores like the Texan or DAQ .45? It seems like these guns would have sufficient energy to be safer, much more like shooting one with a .38 special. Thoughts?

I shoot them with my .408 and .308 Extreme Bigbore Airguns at 50+ yards and they preform flawlessly. The smallest rifle I shoot at them is my .303 Wolverine HiLite and at 90ish ft/lbs it will just stick the pellet deep enough to not bounce back. Anything over 200ft/lbs goes right through for me.

I have found out the same thing. My Bobcat 30 cal will just stick the pellet into them. After a few pellets are stuck the balance is off and they won't always spin back up.
