Rookie mistake I think...need some advice!

Hey Guys,

So recently I purchased a Hawke Vantage SF 6-24 scope and the Beeman 5030H 1" rings to go on my Discovery.

I KNOW this is a lot of scope for this gun but I wanted to buy a nice scope before I bought a nicer gun. Now here is my issue:

I can't adjust the vertical turret down far enough to zero the gun on the cross hairs. I am zeroed at a 2 mil-dot holdover at 30 yards.

Is this something that can be fixed by buying shorter scope rings? Or did I just buy way too much scope for the gun?

I think it has to do with the relationship between the scope and the rifle. Easiest fix would be to get some adjustable scope mounts as seen here -http://airgunnation.dev/topic/fx-no-limit-vs-sportsmatch-atp61-adjustable-scope-mounts/

Scopes don't like to be used at their max adjustments and you might run into accuracy issues using it maxed out. I wouldn't recommend trying to shim it either at this point (except for light experimentation). You don't want to dent up your new scope!
Good luck!
