Benjamin Question about pumpers and springers

Has anyone tried the conical 20-cal Benjamin pellets in a high-end springer? If so, how does accuracy compare with skirted pellets?

You mean those really old Sheridan pellets that were shaped like lead buckets? Those didn’t have a very good reputation and I don’t think they’ve been available for decades now.

I have some of those both in the can and in the little yellow plastic box. I have only tried them in one other .20, an HW95. Rather poor accuracy resulted. I think that they are too heavy for that power plant in a springer, but that's a guess.

At least in mine, it doesn't. I have a couple tins of them but the H&N and JSB pellets both easily outshoot them and that includes my '73 Silver Streak.
If memory serves, they're also no longer being made and haven't been for awhile.

I have had the best success with the H&N Field Target Trophy 11.42’s and the Baracuda 13.58’s.

My only complaint is the tins come in 250 now instead of 500. Shrinkflation.

They only weigh a little over 13 gr so I don't think weight is the problem. I would think that since there are little to no skirts, engaging the rifling would cause them to not be stable and cause them to be inaccurate.

Thank you for your kind correction.

From the red lidded tin; 10 pellets weighed on a calibrated and known accurate, scale weigh 164.3gr (that would be 16.4gr each) and from the yellow plastic box (500 for $2.97) weigh 150.6gr (that would be 15.1gr ea).

yeah, I guess that would be "a little over 13gr"
