If you open your favorite ballistic calculator and play around with the pellet weight, you will see the affect on the trajectory. Weight doesn't seem to really matter for hunting. I personally think that pellet condition (bent skirt, etc) has the largest effect on consistency.

You hit EXACTLY on what I found. I have a Sumatra .22 ( sold tomorrow) I was sorting and weighing 15.89 JSB's because I got more shots per fill. 2 500 tins I had one tin 18% loss because of skirts The other 22%. I don't fault anyone but my greed. These pellets are so light and packed into a 500 tin? Something has to give.
I have bought a .25 cal gun (not here yet CANT wait) bought 2000 .25 25.39 JSB's been sorting and weighing? Not 1 bad skirt. .04 difference in weight.

I put 20 of them in a dime sized hole at 50 yards with my 22 Marauder.
Good pellet, stock gun shooting at 840 fps.
