Pellet pen and slugs

Got around to trying out one of my Christmas stocking stuffers. Just in case it might be helpful to someone - slugs do work in a pellet pen. At least the NSA 17.5's do. Made loading the swing out single shot tray on my R10 WAY easier. Too bad the magazine does not work with slugs.

I found this solution to be much more practical and useful than a pen. I now use a small O ring as a stop for the slugs. It works great.

Check out this updated tubular magazine I made for my Edgun. I used a carbon arrow and cut it to the desired length. Then trimmed the feeder end with a dremel tool. I think you can see it in the picture. I cut the top 2/3 at an angle then a level section for the bottom 1/3. I used a mono filament line knot as a pellet stop. So to get a pellet I point the gun up, put my thumb on top of the pellet skirt, then I pull back and down. That pulls the pellet head back enough to clear the top of the tube and it then pops up for easy removal. Works like a charm. A few zip ties lock it in place. I put enough pellets in it for a full use of the air in the gun. When I run out of air I need pellets. Cost about $2.00. Free if you have a spare carbon arrow with an inside diameter of greater than .22 or .25. There are lots of arrows out there so try to find one that is as close to the needed diameter as possible. Good luck.

Neat idea with the arrow for a pellet dispenser. I was having trouble inserting the slugs and pellets into the flip out single shot loader. The pellet pen lets me insert the slug directly into the loader without fumbling around with it.

JamesD - First attempt with slugs in the R10 has gone well. I literally just cranked up the reg and added more hammer preload (total guestimate) and got these groups at 53 yards.

NSA 17.5g x .2165 slugs. The flyer on #2 was all me. #3 I was getting excited so I chilled for a minute then shot #4. I have not done any tuning for accuracy yet. I am waiting for sample packs of .216 and .2155 from NSA. USPS has had them " in transit" since the 18th.
