PCP choice- Need help

So I am looking to buy another PCP gun. I have narrowed the choices down to Hatsan Bullboss .25 , the Marauder rifle .25 or the Marauder pistol .22. I am looking to make this super backyard friendly, but need the accuracy and knockdown power to take out squirrels and raccoons up to 50 yards. I know a moderator of some type will be required, probably DonnyFl of some type. Any advice would be appreciated. I currently have an FX impact in .25, but you know one gun is just not enough. Can’t wait to hear from the group

Raccoons are tough to kill (humanely) so an airgun with enough caliber and power to take out a Raccoon at 50 yards is IMHO, not going to be "backyard friendly". A "backyard friendly" airgun would be fine for squirrels out to 25-30 yards though.

Here is my Prod with Marmot Militia barrel and Neil Clague moderator. It’s very quiet. And accurate. Don’t think I’d shoot a raccoon with it. But I have taken ground squirrels and LOTS mice at 22 yards. I love it !

There was a daystate regal 25 on the classifieds for $700 how could you beat that? Not mine by the way. I just sold my regal 22. I just have too many guns.

What I don’t have is a real nice 177 . FX crown temps me. I have an impact 25 and it’s NOT back yard friendly.

Like buying hammers you need several for the various jobs you do.

That regal 25 is still on the classifieds. Seems like a no brained to me.

I know this is not the Hunting forum but I will make one comment on raccoons. I usually take 5-10 a year with an airgun. I currently use a .25 shooting 900fps. I try to limit my shots to 30yrds. If you don’t put a perfect shot in the noggin, you aren’t getting them. If they were as big as a Labrador or Shepherd, it would take a 50cal or 20mm cannon to put them down. Very tough critter. I never shot one a 50yrds. Hard to hit that nickel size kill zone at night.

I agree I had a prod made it into a carbine really liked the gun for its light weight and handling fun to shoot. But coons very limited. Mrod I have also owned matter of fact two in .22 and 25cal still have the 22 it is a tact driver 30 shots well in the mid 800s. Once again I feel still limited for coons. If weight is an issue I would look away from the Mrod and Hatsan guns and look at the AirForce line plenty of power reasonable prices if bought on AirForce site blemished products. Or TalonP lower priced plenty of power light weight and you have a truck gun. Cheers 🍺

I would love to have a Leshiy, One day I will, but for now I am looking for a PCP that can be quiet and deadly and something that I can tinker with with mods internally and externally without a PHD. 90% of my shots will be within 30 yards. that the confines of my back yard at its deepest distance and mainly at squirrels/ chipmunks... The key factors I need are whisper quiet and smack down ..I would like at least 650+ FPS.... I am open to any and all recommendation that fall into that line... Ready and GO!

So my Prod is whisper quiet. When I first shot it I did not think the pellet even came out of the barrel. With no major tuning. Just tweaking the hammer throw. I’m shooting HN FTT 14.66 grn pellets at an average of 630 FPS. If I opened up the transfer port i could easily get to 700 FPS.
This rat was shot two weeks ago. Shot in the side of the head. At 22 yards. The pellet passed through then went about 1/4” into a pressure treated 2x6 that was my backstop.

I would go with one of the Airforce guns in.25. All the power you want/need and they can be turned way down to nothing. I killed a lot of ground squirrels out to 180+ with my .25 and JSBs. Badger at 30 yds was dead upon impact. Slugs would increase the lethality of the gun. Look here for blems.
