Nuisance Spell and Grammar Check

Although it really aggravates me while I'm typing it does show how poorly I've been mis-spelling words, using incorrect grammar and improper sentence building.
Sure makes me proofread a little more often, so thanks to the forum..

I have often considered correcting the spelling in other people's posts.
The problem is I can't identify the wrongly spelled words.

There is nothing wrong with checking your own spelling. Spell check helps sometimes but it doesn't know what you want to say. It's funny to read post that you know the person hasn't read what he has typed. I think this happens to people that type faster than I can which is slow. I do re read what I say and I still make mistakes.

I have always assumed that the misspelling comes from the lack of literacy, not the failure to proofread.

I gave up worrying about other people’s spelling and grammar years ago.
What is the point. A majority of Americans cannot spell or write beyond the level of a junior high student.
I used to care until I realized nobody else did so why waste my energy on it.

This just in... not a single student out of 55 schools in Chicago tested proficient in Math or English!

This is a subject near and dear to my heart, as I am an adjunct professor at a large university. The level of work turned in is disheartening to say the least.
After going to work with my red pen, I was instructed by the powers that be, to stop nitpicking my students and be happy that they did any work at all.
Disheartening to say the least.
If you have not seen the movie, "Idiocracy", I recommend it. It is both entertaining and prophetic I fear.

I was replying to a post earlier and my autocorrect picked up a word in the original post that had been misspelled. I didn't notice it when I was reading his post initially but autocorrect wouldn't give up until I let it correct the word.

I'm the guy that hits post and then proofreads. The edit function is my best friend.

I just didn't want to be the guy everyone thinks "what the hell is he talking about", though I didn't ever think that I was that bad. Pretty nick-picky software I think for us regular folk, appreciated a little anyway.
