New Huben K1 and the regulator stability disaster

Arrrgh, now I opened a new thread because the other Huben thread is realy to big for giving a good overview.

Yesterday I got a brand new Huben K1. I dont know which version it is, I assume (hope) the last one, as I also dont know how to identify MK 2 or MK4 version or whatever.

Hm, before I`m going for the first shooting, I will check the power and m/s (fps) stability of the gun, I thought. So I watched the very good YT Video explanation from Gregor K. for correct speed setup and I understood.

However, the results from my Chrony are a disaster. I checked also the chrony with another gun (with a cheepy cheap SPA M10 with HUMA Regulator), because I could not believe these unbelievable differences. However, the cheepy cheap M10 was shooting ALL bullets from min. 242 to max. 246 m/s ….

Fact: I started with the Piledriver from H&N and the m/s speed showed me all values from 200 m/s up to 330 m/s. Some times the speed varies for 3-5 shots between 280 and 285 m/s and suddenly it raises for 1 shot to 320 or more m/s … During the whole measurements I don`t turn the speed wheel or the regulator screw.

The Regulator pressure is set to approx. 150 bar and the pressure cyl. is allways filled with 200-250 bar.

Now after 2 tins Piledrivers Im disappointed about the Huben. With these different chrony results its impossible to achieve some accuracy.

Any ideas from your side ?

It is possile that the piledrivers are a bit too big for the barrel and are having trouble pushing through. I had the same problem with the copper plated H&N Baracuda power pellets in my Steyr. In fact, there were times the pellet didn't get pushed all the way thorugh the barrel on the first shot!

I'd try a different pellet and see if the inconsistency is still there.

Regulator's have to settle in. After a thousand rounds, do only them begin to worry about a regulator's fps spread. They are always horrible until the break in. Mine (not a Huben) was 50-60 feet per second spread, now after a couple of thousand rounds it is 30-35fps spread. Now, I am begin to think about upgrading a regulator to get below 20fps. That spread is horrible, but make sure you give the Huben a due-process before you jump to any conclusions.

Dears, I was still NOT shooting on Targets with the K1 (sorry, perhaps I`ve not mentioned clearly in the opening post). Regulator have to settle in ? The SPA M10 is also a complete new gun w/o such problems … However I hope settle in will help me.

As next I will try to use some JSB Jumbo Monster, hope to get some lower min/max fps difference with these pellets.

@Bigalex, similar Problems for several months ? Holy sh... so I`ve to dismantle the whole new gun for checking this stupid spring ? Again holy sh ...

I`m still working and replacing constantly o-rings on my FX Impact. I spend my freetime more for repairing than shooting

Just read. Raising to 170-180 bar ? Hmm, I assume then would the air consumption also raise ? But thanks, I will try

Gregor K. has set the reg to 100-120 bar and he shows fantastic high and stable fps.

In the meantime I can see that my Huben is raising automatic the reg pressure more and more to the same pressure like in the cylinder. What kind of problem is this ? Oh no, again changing some o-rings on a new gun ?? I hope not.

the problem of air leakage of the pressure regulator occurs if the rifle is for a while with an empty small reservoir, change the rubber ring 7 × 1 and have a stock of such rings. Now Huben uses a new plastic peek yellow in the regulator instead of black there is no such problem. Maybe if I change the rubber for PU this problem will go away, I will experiment.
