First a little background. A friend and co-worker has had issues for the last few years with raccoons raiding his garbage cans. I've tried a few times after doing some minor yard work there to get rid of them but haven't had a sighting. His wife thought the smaller ones were cute, and was willing to put up with the mess until one recently tried getting past her storm door. After which she has decided enough was enough and it was time for the bandits to take a permanent hike by any means necessary. So I brought out two dog proof raccoon traps and went with my tried and true payday candy bar bait. Normally I don't use traps, but with my current time constraints its been necessary.
Tonight I went back and discovered one trap was completely gone. The other had a raccoon in it, or rather half a raccoon in it. I need help figuring out what could do this. What ever it was ripped a 18 inch rebar stake from the ground to steal the raccoon, and has done this kind of damage to the other one. This was done less than 20yds from the back of his home.
