Impressed with my Night Vision

not really played much with the NV I made but took it out for an hour tonight.
only had 2 shots
first one I underestimated the distance and held over 2.5 dots for the range and parted the Rabbits hair
second one was picked up by rage IR illuminater and I saw the eye glow. Put the crosshairs dead on as I guessed it to be 35 metres. Pellet struck a clean head shot and what impressed me loads was the sight of the pellet flashing on the screen as it flew towards the target.

i have put up links to where all the kit came from to put it together but if anyone wants to know I am happy to point them in the right direction.
Infrared torch I tracked via the NV forum and I am very impressed with the range of the beam

Ok
i will create a post with some links later today. Quality needs to be seen. If you have a Hawke or MTC scope then there is a bespoke screw in housing for the camera to sit in

I have an iPhone video somewhere of the unit working but the quality is not good due to holding the iPhone to video the screen. Detail with the lens alone in the dark is amazing, flick on the illuminater it's fabulous

Camera and screen from here http://www.sure24.co.uk/kpc-e700-tft-camera-tft5-bundle.html . Really good camera and screen is very light and adjustable. I used a 30mm scope mount and adapted it too take the mounting arm on the rear of the screen. Camera is really high quality and picture in the dark is good even without the IR I need to do further work here if I wish to continue using the TDR backpack as it will not fit in the case with the adapter screwed on.
they also sell the screw in rear housing to mount the camera and it gives a really neat http://www.sure24.co.uk/kpc-e700mtc-a-mtc-adaptor.html and http://www.sure24.co.uk/nite-tek-kpc-e700nt-nite-tek-housing-for-kpc-e700.html
IR Illluminator was sourced from here

It has a Black Sun Pill fitted which is miles better than the normal ones, there is also a new one called Dragon I believe .. Have a route rounds the forum..... Found the store it came from http://www.nightvisionstore.co.uk/black-sun-2-b502-50mm-ir-illuminator-c2x19081344
you will need a tail switch for ease of use http://www.nightvisionstore.co.uk/t50-dual-mode-remote-tailcap-switch-c2x19096826
mount for the torch to the scope http://www.nightvisionstore.co.uk/ward-t20-t67-scope-mount-clamp-c2x14686346
Battery was an eBay purchase from Hong Kong.. Works really well search for DC 12V 15000mAh Super Rechargeable Portable Lithium-ion Battery Pack
plenty of them on there and they work well or maybe source one in the States. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Multi-use-DC12V-15000mAh-Super-Rechargeable-Portable-Lithium-ion-Battery-Pack-fo-/131719862047?hash=item1eab1d971f:g:kEoAAOSwJb9Ws4iB

So those are essentially the exact same components that I ended up with, but I sourced them from Amazon.com.

I’ve never like eBay, so I found all the same components for the same price, or less, on Amazon.com. For US members with an Amazon Prime membership, this makes things easier, faster, and cheaper:

Love the look of the DVR recorder. Have been looking for a way to record the night shots. Will look for one in the uk. Only difference I can see is the camera. Mine was already fitted with a 16 lens and had the filter removed. Poorer quality daytime pictures but superb at night. Camera needs to be of good quality. Set up looks like it will work well and if you can get the parts in the States or local to yourself then better all round

Hobby Wireless VR1500 FPV DVR works well for me so far with my NiteSite. Input is 2.5mm for video and audio. I use a 3.5mm to a 2.5mm adapter. The sound from the NS gets lost between one of the ends of the adapter but using the onboard mic of the VR1500 solves that. The guy I bought the NS from gave me cables but were bulky so I just went with the 4" 3.5-3.5mm then used a 3.5 to 2.5mm 3 pole adapter.

LCD: $16
Camera: $13
Project Box: $8
Replacement Lens: $8
Battery: $24
BNC Connector: $2.50
'Y' Power Cord: $4.50
IR Flashlight: $10
Flexible union for PVC irrigation pipe: $5
Total: $91

DVR(optional): $24

I already had the IR Flashlight and I left out the cost of the DVR as it isn't necessary to the operation. So for me, the cost was $81, but with the flashlight, $91.

Edit: I guess I should also include the plumbing supplies that I purchased from the Hardware store to mount the camera on the scope
