Tuning Impact Liner Change

I'm looking for advice on getting the end cap off for a liner change on an Impact barrel. I've tried a rubber strap wrench, heat and a few other techniques. It's a shame they didn't cut a couple flat spots for a wrench here. Any ideas on loosening this without damaging it?

There should be a couple of flat spots on there. You could always try to put a few nuts on it, tighten them together and then use the one closest to the sleeve to try to turn it out.

I’m a little confused about what the issue is. Grab your shroud, twist it off CCW. Slide the shroud off, now your barrel is exposed. Put a wrench on the barrel tension screw and twist CCW. Once it’s off, grab your liner and pull it out.

What you were trying to get off is probably the thread protector for the 1/2-20 threads.

Four identical o-rings in there. Two were floating around and two still on the liner after removing. Pretty sure all four were all on the liner.

Upgrading to the Superior Liner should really help.

Upgrading to the Superior Liner should really help. 



Superior liner along with a carbon fiber liner sleeve from 910 Airgun tuning. Epoxy that sleeve onto your superior liner(Ernest Rowe instructional video is on YT) and never worry about those pesky o rings again.

I saw that vid and considered it. With the experience of doing it once and a small, protected bench vice, it's pretty quick and easy to do. There are some interesting new liners coming out that might be worth a go. The Impact X .25 definitely needed the upgrade and I've got a MKII .35 that might try out a heavy liner at some point.
