Impressive work for sure but I'm not a fan of shiny gunstocks. Growing up I spent many hours in duck and goose blinds and it seemed everybody's gun was covered in layers of clear gloss from the factory. That's a harsh environment and nicks and bumps show up well on glossy finishes plus I got tired of people babying their guns. I don't even know if matte finishes were an option back then. I bought myself a couple of ten gauges since I mostly goose hunt. A Remington SP-10 and an Ithaca Mag 10, both with matte finishes. I guess I'm a fan of the no-nonense, utilitarian look of matte finishes. I think the finish on my FX 400 is pretty much ideal.
